|
|
This is mainly a question for foreigners who are ethnically Korean.
I was born and raised in the United States and never stepped foot into Korea until a year ago when I started working. Finding a job was relatively easy (perhaps because I didn't know much).
This time around, it seems like I'm the Black Death of resumes. I've sent several resumes out and have had them all returned to me saying that they only preferred non-ethnic koreans.
Currently, I'm working with privates.. which is nice, but they don't last and for me at least, are few and far between. My current contract is up, but I really was hoping to find something in Seoul. Anyone know of a site or recruiters to go through as a gyopo? |

I am not gyopo, but I notice that on the worknplay website there are tons of jobs that request gyopo ONLY. |

Public schools take gyopos, worknplay has gyopo-only jobs, Craigslist has some gyopo-only jobs, and CDI hires lots of gyopos from what I've heard. |

Is it just gypos they are not hiring or are they not hiring anyone of an asian background?
This is off the limb, but I read ever so often on ads that advertise that they currently have so many native speaker teachers and so many gypos. I honestly hate that. What, whom, why, how does one fall under the native speaker category? It's a rhetorical question, but still is bull
I, myself is not a gypo, but still...Wouldn't you consider a Korean, adopted at two months, raised in Canada a native speaker? Or an Asians raised overseas?
Many times I'm lost in this beautiful country of the Morning Calm. But, it's been great to me and I'm enjoying every moment of it. |
