I've been teaching ESL outside of Korea where I've seen quite a bit of variation in cell phone availability from country to country - - - -
Is it safe to assume that reasonably cheap and functional cell phones can be picked up at local stores? Probably recharged at grocery stores or kiosk type places? I'm looking to avoid a cell phone contract when I first get there.
Also curious if you bring say an unlocked iphone in if you can get it hooked up to cell service there fairly easily?
Thanks |

Yes, cell phones are available with on-the-go plans. Ipones are trickier, since there's generally some serious contracts they want you to go along with and I'm not sure about compatability, even though Koreainvented iPone. |

Sounds like there are some low cost/low commitment ways to start communicating there - all I'm looking for really.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
