Hey guys,

I am looking for any upcoming powerlifting (hopefully raw). I've tried searching on powerliftingwatch.com for meets in korea but I didnt get any results. I emailed a few people listed as contacts to powerlifting associations here in Korea but I haven't received any responses.

I am living in Pyeongtaek where they dont even have a serious gym.. Im paying 70k won a month to workout at a 'fitness club' its terrible.

Does anyone have any information regarding meets? or maybe some decent gyms nearby? (with power racks, lifting platforms, squat racks, bumper plates, maybe powerlifting and oly bars)

I've searched through davesesl but didnt find what anything.
On a side note; where can I buy lifting chalk?

Dude, let me know if you find one: I'd love to go (and watch: I'm a fan of the sport but not strong enough to compete).

As for gyms, there are two I know of in Seoul: one is called SAP (Speed and Power) and it's near Kunkuk University station. They have tires for flipping, fat bars, Olympic rings, kettlebells, reverse hypers, glute/ham raise machines, etc. It's awesome.

Another is Korea National Sport University. It's where many of Korea's top athletes go to school and train. The gym there has Olympic lifting equipment (platform, bumper plates, etc.) and the facilities in general are awesome.

Let me know if you want more specifics, here or by PM.

I was actually looking for something similar, if not to compete, at least to watch. I found this site tho, http://powerlifting.co.kr/ but all in Korean.. however it seems like they are having meets and/or similar, but it doesnt look like the powerlifting scene is big here

What I hate the most about korean gyms well mine atleast. It isn't cheap and they had alot of space but they used sooo much space for lockers and the luxurious changerooms :'(

You can compete if you can do squat/bench/deadlift with any weight!
Seoul is out of the question it would be about an hour there and an hour back each time. If I change schools/location I'd definitely negotiate a location close to either one of the locations you mentioned.

^Im with you. I got one of the most poorly designed squat racks ever.

Looks like there are no meets in korea. I emailed a few contacts I found online listed under the asia/korea powerlifting federation last week but I did not receive a response.

I'm just wondering if you could tell me how much it costs to join SAP? It's sounds the business and I'll need a gym when I move over (hopefully March). I would of given you a PM but I need 25 posts, this is my first!!

I think SAP is 70,000 won per month. They're not open Sundays. If you want to try the place out before getting a membership, a day pass is 10,00 won on weekdays and 15,000 on Saturday.

Also you can get a three month membership for 180 000 won. SAP is the best gym I've ever been to.

Hm that sounds really good compared to what I'm paying here at the moment. They've got some videos on youtube and tbh it looks amazing. Can't wait to do some tyre flipping.

I saw those videos too, but was unable to dig up any info. Plus I doubt I can get on base to do a meet.

Sap gym is badass. I told my recruiters I want to be located near SAP and they thought I was crazy. Unfortunately I am over an hour away or else Id workout there.

It takes me 45 mins to get to my gym here, so hopefully I shouldn't be to far away.
