I met my Korean gf in Vancouver just over a year ago, and we are now in Seoul to visit/meet her family. Things have gone well (got lucky with an accepting family), and I have a shiny ring which I am planning to put on her finger while we are here. I used to live in Seoul, and know the city well, and have been brainstorming as to where I might pop the question.

Any suggestions/experience is welcome, especially from the ladies.

Wish me luck:)

My advice would be to propose somewhere that has a special meaning for the two of you--could be the place you first met or even a love hotel. Cool Otherwise, it just depends on what she finds romantic.

haha - actually that's kind of a problem for me. as i mentioned, we met in Canada. As for Seoul, I have lot's of memories here, but all with exes, and as big as Seoul is, anyone who has dated here knows that there are only so many places to go. If the weather weren't so cold I'd be more inclined towards an outdoor location. As nice as love motels are, too much weird/anti-marriage karma.

the ngrill steakhouse on top of Seoul Tower is pretty nice.. get one of thoe couple seats overlooking the city as the restaurant rotates. pop the question and get the champagne afterwards... it's as close to a city icon as you can get in seoul...

Marco Polo is a fancy restaurant at the top of the World Trade Center in COEX, Gangnam (Samseong Station) which has become famous as a place to propose.

If you talk to them beforehand the restaurant staff will even bring over flowers and champagne after you've popped the question.......provided she says yes!

Go to a sushi restaurant and talk the chefs into putting the ring on a dish on the conveyor belt.

Oh yeah, and when it doesn't come go to the emergency room and see if there are any unfortunate Koreans getting stomach X-rays.

Next to a big, archaic, communist-bloc looking apartment building.

Just drive around until you see the grand opening of some small place and propose to her under the balloon arch while the two dancing girls look on.
