|
|
The Camarata Music Company just completed their inaugural production of Handel's "Messiah" this past December, to amazing reviews (please see the review below). Please also see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK7A0aEsOhs
This spring, we will be performing our spring production, Faure's "Requiem".
We are looking for people that would like to join the Camarata Music Company's Camarata Chorale. Rehearsals will begin on February 6th (Saturday). We are especially looking for men, especially lower voiced men (Basses/Baritones).
For those of you who are interested, please contact me at goesslry (at) gmail dot com, or call at 010-9006-8655. You can see more about the Camarata Music Company at: http://www.ryangoessl.com/camarata_music_company_cmc.
Camarata Brings Magic to Music Lovers in Seoul
By Laurine le Roux
Contributing Writer
The Camarata Music Company
The audience rose to our feet, spontaneously and with one accord, as has been done for two and a half centuries. At its premier, King George II first stood to honor the greatest climactic sacred musical chorus of all time, the Hallelujah, rendered at the end of the second half of Handels Messiah. I stood in the balcony wiping tears away. This music grips the soul and squeezes feeling from the cracks .
Being a lover of sacred choral music, I jumped at the chance of hearing a choir perform the great masterpiece. I was to discover the existence of some magic, right here in Seoul, the place I have chosen to spend a few years of my working life. And so on a frigid winters night shortly before Christmas, I made my way to the ChungDong First Methodist Church in Central Seoul, and was met with a foyer packed to the brim with an audience eagerly waiting to be inspired.
The Camarata Music Company is the brainchild of Ryan Goessl. Music is his passion. That said, he has a Masters of Music Degree from the University of Southern California in Vocal Arts Performance. He has been working in Korea for over three years and has long had the desire to share his passion for music with Koreans and the Expatriate communities.
Another acclaimed musician, Brendan Hollins, BMusHons, who studied music in South Africa, crossed paths with Ryan in Korea, and it just so happens that they were longtime friends and colleagues. A perfect combination to turn their mutual passion for music into the gift of sharing for the fortunate public who thirst for classical music.
Ryan Goessl is an active voice instructor, soloist and voice actor, having performed within the USA, Northern Europe, and Korea, both as a soloist and with choirs. Brendan Hollins is a conductor, pianist and violinist who has studied with world-renowned musicians and performed as soloist with various symphonies in South Africa.
Aside from Mr Goessl, who performed as Baritone soloist, the professional line-up consisted of Soprano Myung-SungHan, Mezzo-Soprano Yu-Jin Chung and Tenor Bong SuKang. In a small theatre setting such as a church, even professional voices can go understated, but on the contrary, the deep tones of the tenor and bass, and the full-bodied sounds of the sopranos were truly awe-inspiring, and the story of Christs passion unfolded in all its pathos rendered by the soloists and the small choir of fifty choristers. Graceful sweeps of Mr Hollins arms, hands and body held the orchestra and choir in complete harmony and the audience in thrall, throughout the performance, making it not only an amazing thing to hear, but also to behold.
The Camarata Music Company strives to provide enthusiastic and talented amateurs, aspiring students and seasoned professionals an avenue to learn and perform great classical repertoire in a friendly, multi-cultural setting. Music is an international language, and Mr Goessl believes it goes a long way to bring together all cultures in a positive and fulfilling manner.
The CMC would like to invite anyone interested in further helping the Company. It is looking for volunteers and sponsors, from performers to people working in the background, to financial assistance, to help in further establishing the company.
Mr Goessl can be reached by email at [email protected] or 010-9006-8655 010-9006-8655

I wish I could do this but I'm too busy, but seriously, singing in a choir is about the best way for people who want to sing (you do, it's fun and awesome) to get good, real practice without the fear of sounding terrible, since you have 20+ people to help you out. I advise any of you guys here to do this. |
