I know phpbb2 is not safe, phpbb has stopped developing it
I think the time has come to convert it to phpbb3
with a large database like eslcafe it is hard but sooner or later it has to be done! |

Yeah, I wonder if Dave should be funding it, or if we (the users) should set up some way to donate.
How much does Dave make off this site? Is he a charity case or not? |

I do not think he is making much, I am sure he has spent huge time on his websites. If instead he spent all those hours teaching english he would have made much more money.
Dave Esl cafe is very old site. years back managing websites was not easy.
It is very difficult to handle a site like this. and now he has a new headache
How to convert all these DB and move to phpbb3 or another forum software!
If he upgrades to phpbb3 it can be easier but If he converts to other softwares it is possible he lose some backlinks from search engines.
He and his moderators have to learn phpbb3 too . It will take a long time because PHPBB3 is more complicated than phpbb2
I think he has not installed many MODS on this forum so at least he does not have to worry about MODS incompatibility. |
