hi everyone
I'm working in Ansan and thinking of moving to seoul but I've heard that it's harder to meet other foreigners in seoul. Ansan's got a pretty tight knit crowd so i'm just wondering what the seoulites think. What area do you like living in?
I've heard good things about Ilsan and Bundang too.

crowded, loud, but entertaining and something insane or stupid happens everyday so never a dull moment

Do you know those two buildings in Ansan with an absurd amount of neon billboards on them?

Imagine a whole city full of buildings like that. Seoul.

It's really not that complicated.

If you prefer the city more Seoul is for you.

I'm a city guy, and I love it here. I've lived in NYC and Tokyo as well.

Seoul is a great city if you're a city person.

If Seoul is NYC, then Ansan is New Jersey.... but I liked it physically for sure. Seoul was just too much like drowning in the city, but maybe just because of the job.

Actually - you hit the nail on the head for me...I've found it near impossible to meet foreigners (at least decent ones) in Seoul. Overall, I don't mind living here, its more convenient than Daejeon (where I used to live); however, I haven't made the friends I made in Daejeon. I'm hoping to leave and go to Busan.

i definitely agree with this too. i still hang out with my friends that are in korea from previous years, but after moving to seoul this year, i've found it difficult meeting people actually living in seoul.

overall though, i much prefer living in seoul - i love the big city and i find everything is super convenient. i also don't have to worry about the stares (as much) and russian comments because most koreans in seoul seem to be well adjusted to foreigners.

I love the food, the culture, the proximity to the rest of Asia, the dynamic growth potential of greater East Asia/South Korea, the language, the films, the mom & pop restaurants/food stands, the fashion, and the 'daejop' service culture of S. Korea.
