|
|
ME:
BS in Secondary Education (math)
One year teaching experience
Excellent teaching references
No ESL certificate
Planning on going to Korea in August
It seems that if I were to cash out the $190 for the TEFL I found I would be in the next pay bracket in either Public or most Private schools.... (link at the end if I can post them)
...but advice would be helpful. $190 for an extra 100-200K Won a month is totally worth it money wise. And it would probably be a decent learning experience.
Would I actually get paid more?
Would this program actually be recognized? Or is it a useless certificate?

Do the CELTA and any TEFL thing you can if you plan to stay in EFL. It all adds up eventually. |

Well... I think you should do the math and then it might be clear what you should do. An extra 100 is basically 1300 extra presuming you finish your contract. So, invest 200, get 1300 in return, but in real terms it's 1100 to offset the cost of the certificate. I don't think it really gets easier than that.
Will you learn anything? I took a course with ITTT, and the lessons seem just about the same, as in same subject but slightly different titles. It' even in the same order. It'll teach you rules that we are just used to, but not really aware of, so maybe a good refresher?
If that doesn't help, I have no idea what will. Oh yeah, it's only 200 bucks. |

Well I know it's worth the investment. I guess the real, refined question is if a $200 course will be enough of a certification for a raise...
It seems the answer is yes? |
