How the heck can they expect to have a viable device of that size with no flash? The one thing that's making me consider other options than my i-touch is: 1. Speed. 2. No flash.

I'll wait for the appropriate Windows device in a tablet, then.

And the resolution is probably low so that the current I-phone applications you purchase from the store will still fill the screen and not look too much like butt.

I'm sure 4 months from now they'll release a new iPad that "corrects" features.

I am beginning to think that Apple purposely sabotages their new products so they can get suckers to buy the release model, and then get them to buy the 2nd gen one.

I think it's designed more as an e-book reader than anything else--especially when you consider that Apple is using it to promote "iBooks."

You have to admit, when compared to the Kindle, the iPad's reader interface is a quantum leap forward.

Yes, the iPad is small, lightweight and slim. But can you swim with it?"

iPad name draws feminine hygiene jokes

This guy sums it up exactly:

Quote:
Nicholas: I mean, I already did a whole spiel on CNN (what?!) why the iPad is sorta meh in my eyes, but to recap: I simply dont get it. Its not an iPhone replacement because its not a phone (duh); its not an iPod touch replacement because its not portable; and I already have enough real computers that I dont need a tablet. I understand Im not Mr. Average Consumer, but the iPad seems to fill a void that I simply dont need filled. Maybe as an e-reader, but that entirely depends upon the book selection, which isnt clear right now. For now, though: meh.

No multitasking is a big let down. The resolution is absolutely shit. Watching movies on this will blow. You'll be staring at a tiny slice of video with massive black bars.

Pretty disappointed.

huh? It has a 10 inch screen with 1024x768 resolution. There wouldn't be any point watching 1080p stuff on it. I doubt the processor on could handle 1080p mkv files anyway

Funny there's no Korean keyboard on this thing... I seriously doubt we'll see it in Korea any time soon.

If it's anything like the iPhone or my iPod Touch, it'll natively support multiple languages and the keyboard will simply switch from English to whatever other language it supports by pressing the little globe button to the left of the space bar.

I know I'll end up getting one in the future though. It will never replace my MacBook, but it would compliment it pretty well, and would likely replace my iPhone (aka fat iPod touch, Korean version)

Why do you say there is no Korean keyboard? The iPhone has a Korean keyboard and it is the same OS.

Yes.

Apple has cornered the music market, the mobile app market, and hopes this thing will corner the Ebook market.

With better mobile game apps, and Ebook reader, they have forwarded themselves again. This thing is not about capabilities. It's a specialized machine that will draw customers they didn't have before.

It is, but for reasons arcane and inexplicable they cut Korean language support.

Quote:
Keyboard support for English (U.S.) English (UK), French (France, Canada), German, Japanese (QWERTY), Dutch, Flemish, Spanish, Italian, Simplified Chinese (Handwriting and Pinyin), Russian.

I hope it doesn't take over the Ebook market because it will not be a very good Ebook reader. I love my Sony Reader. E-ink is amazing. I think this looks like an interesting device, but a book reader it is not.

I think it sucks. I'd rather have paid $1000 for a device that was higher resolution and had USB/SD slots and a modified MAC OS X operating system. The fact it doesn't even come with a pen makes me LOL.

I smell this device failing.

People want the power of a computer in the size of their tablet.
