I know of a great place in Seoul to get them. But what about in the Daegu area?

Where do you recommend getting them in Seoul? And how are they in terms of pricing, quality, and variety?

Geckos in Seoul (the one on the 2nd floor next to the subway, and across from Coffee Bean) always had cigars for sale in the back at the counter near the fireplace. Can't say how good they are, as I'm not one to suck on burning cat turds.

There's a cigar shop on the 2nd floor of the Hamilton Hotel Shopping Plaza in Itaewon. Walk thru the glass doors behind the outdoor CD shop, up the escalator and pull a 180 to the right. For Korea, the prices and quality are good. The Grand Intercontinental Hotel near COEX has a walk-in humidor. Quality is better but price is higher.

And Bassexpander, I guess sophistication eludes you. Smile

I agree. Ive been to the intercontinental and coex ones and they are indeed expensive, but nice places.

I havent tried the itaewon yet... but you should really order online if you have a humidor. But be careful where you order from... there are counterfeits everywhere. Check out http://www.coh-hk.com

I swear a few weeks ago I was downtown and a friend of mine was smoking a Romeo and Julieta that he got from some random mart downtown -- maybe the SunnyDay?

I don't know if that's legit or not but I've been meaning to check it out...I'll let you know if I find something.

Odds are if he didnt get the romeo y julieta from a legit place, its either fake, or disgustingly dry. Its really weird... people dont understand that you need to keep cigars at 70% relative humidity. If its just kept around outside a humidor, it'll become too brittle and too dry... that means the cigar will burn faster and hotter, and it will be very bitter.

Ive been to convenience stores in Korea that carried some decent cigars, I believe a Cohiba Siglo I, and I think the Ashton VSG.... but theyre just kept out in the open. I dont know why anyone would buy a dry cigar.... thats just disgusting to smoke.

But I think most people just smoke once in a while for the image or something...

the website above is the best to get cubans

I got some really good cubans from a super nice hotel is Seoul (the cigars are not fake). I cant remember what the name of the hotel was, but it did have a pretty nice walk-in humidor. This hotel even flew in a cuban from cuba to handroll cigars with cuab tobacco for them. I would have loved to see that. I personally have a humidor and have a couple of really nice cubans I got from there. Nothing like a smooth, fully humidified cuban to relax with.

I will get back to this thread when I find the name of the hotel.

But I am still wondering where I can find REAL cigars in Daegu....

if you have a humidor, why not order online? Its much much cheaper than buying them here, and you'll get a nice selection.

you should really check it out. I never ordered cubans online because there are so many counterfeits out there, but this was recommended to me as a reuptable site. I bought a box of Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No1's and I have no complaints. Whats even better is that the shipping only took a few days!

once I free up some space in my humidor, im definitely gonna order from them again.

The Ritz Carlton in Kangnam has an OK selection. If you want a wide selection then go to the JW Marriott in Banpo-dong Seocho-gu, Seoul. They have the best selection (that I have found) in Seoul. I don't buy cigars from bars. They are usally stale and many are fakes.
