It's the other way around. Say thank you out loud to Jesus in the public school and watch what happens. Cusre His name no big deal. Nice consistency.

Well, since it is not legal to use public funds to support a religious belief and hasn't been since 1787, this makes sense. As far as cursing his name, teachers are generally reprimanded for using foul language.

Christians make up over 75% of the population in the US and have most of the power. You are not a persecuted minority and haven't been since before Constantine. Get over it.

I will say that bashing Catholics or Christians is no longer politically incorrect; it is rampant in the media, and nothing happens when they do except that a few Catholics will write a letter to the editor. OTOH, publicly bashing Jews or Muslims will get you in a lot of trouble.

This is true, but there's an obvious reason for it. Most of the US is Christian. In an ideal world, everything would be fair game, but under the current societal mores, it isn't cool to bash minorities. It's a lot easier to bash white people than black people because whites are the majority. Same goes for religion.

^ That may be true for the majority who are Christians, but not the minority who are Catholics.

Catholics are still part of the Christian majority, just like Irish people, although a minority in their own right, are still generally considered part of the white majority.

I also don't think Christanity gets singled out in this fashion at all. Islam gets attacked quite often in our society. Buddhism and Hinduism receive no real protection at all, they're just rarely talked about; recently regarding Tiger Woods a member of the media suggested that he should change from Buddhism to Christianity because Buddhism "dosen't offer forgiveness," or some rubbish, and while some people attacked him for it, a lot of people supported him for it too. Voudoun can be joked about with no reprocussions at all, as can almost any other minor religion. Honestly the only faith that receives any real "political protection" is Judaism, and even that's only because of recent history and the politicization of Israel.

I don't think Christians are being unfairly singled out here. They get talked about a lot because there are a lot of them in our country, and some of them spend a lot of time actively trying to influence our society. That's pretty much all.

I have no idea how some of these threads have stayed up without someone getting banned.

You're right, us fags shouldn't be allowed to get married. Why? Because a book that claims the earth is only 6000 years old says so. Makes sense to me.

But since this argument is being based on religious arguments, what about these (taken from someone else, not my original work):

Leviticus, 11:7-8, touching the skin of a dead pig means you are 'unclean', so you should call the NFL and tell them the playoffs are on hold and there'll be no super bowl this year, or any other year for that matter, until they change what their balls are made of.

Leviticus, 18:22- Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.--- this long with a few other things calls for killing gays. Do you support it? God said. It's his law. Why aren't you following it? Why stop at banning marriage, me and my kind should clearly be put to DEATH. It's in the bible, afterall.

Leviticus, 20:9, have you ever 'cursed' your mother or father. If so, we're going to need to 'put you to death.'

or 20:10, Tiger Woods is going to need to be put to death, as are all those women he slept with.

Exodus, 21:7- Do you have a daughter? Do you plan on selling her into slavery? You can, you know. It's ok because the bible says so. I'll give you 50 bucks for her.

Exodus 35:2- have you ever worked on the Sabbath? If so better ask someone to kill you, because it says you should be put to death.

People should not be banned for having a different opinion than you. But I am glad you brought this up because I myself have been wondering about some of the other specific laws and how to follow them, to wit:

1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev. 1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, is $50 a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual unseemliness - Lev. 15:19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev. 24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted disciple and adoring fan.

I only have one theological question. Am I going to hell if I take a dolphin wife?
