Any Australians want to talk about this weekend, then?

OK Let's talk.
I believe Australia hasn't lost to your miserable side in some 20 plus years, and in over 17 international games. The loss itself resulted in an article from a past player and commentator about "the new lows in Australian rugby" which shows the utter contempt for Scotland, and here we have a couple of Scotsmen wanting to gloat over a one point victory in a game where they had basically no possession at all, never looked like scoring a try and only won due to Australia's blunders.
Gloat away cableTOSSERS. |

But anyway. I don't think I've ever encountered such bad losers as the Aussies. Which is a shame, because I like Australian rugby, and I spent year after year watching them beat the living hite out of Scotland, and didn't mind, because they were a masterclass in how rugby should be played.
But to say something like

makes you sound like, as we would say in Scotland, a bit of a tube.
I even read an article that suggested Scotland be banned from international rugby if they insist on playing defensively.
Now, if you had a team of very big forwards, who can consistently hold out their line, and a selection of exceptional kickers, would you try to go like hell and outrun a side that you KNOW has a superior backline and would rip you to shreds in open play? No. You would slow down their game, you would keep them from scoring tries, and you would force penalties out of them. And you would win the game. See?

You don't get points for possession, as our game against Argentina showed.

You don't have to score tries to win rugby matches. I hate to bring this up, but you lost quite a big match a few years ago, and I don't think Wilkinson scored a try to win it, did he?

Well, don't make so many of them. Did you want us to give Giteau a pat on the back and say "Don't worry mate, take another punt, we know you can do it"
At the end of the day, we're happy to have beaten a side that we know are capable of ripping any team in the world apart. And we didn't let them do it to us this time.
How about I buy you a beer? |

| When people critiise English rugby for being one-dimensional, I'm not sure this is really what they had in mind.... |
