|

If you attend this place thinking you are drinking some fine beer, be warned. The Hefeweiss and Dunkel are legit, they are Schmucker beers from Germany, but stay away from the "Brown Ale from England" and the "KristallWeiss from Germany"... they are nothing but a dunkel or weiss beer MIXED WITH CASS!!! Hence the reason they are cheaper and taste like absolute piss.
We discovered this little secret as we went to Seoul's microbreweries for an article my fiance wrote for the Korea Herald. The staff seemed a bit sheepish about it and said "please do not get us in trouble"... Beer Factory was not mentioned in the article, but I thought the good people here at Daves ESL should know... |

There's restaurant supply store by my house. It sells brown food dye that is meant to be put in beer to make it appear like dark beer or stout.
Typical. |

I think things like that is fairly common. I went to one of those mom and pop Hof places and ordered "dark beer". I saw them fill up a pitcher of Cass and pour in a can of Hite Stout.
When I complained they looked at the pitcher, and poured a 2nd can of Hite stout in it and gave it to me.
If you just ask the people they will tell you straight up if its mixed beer or not. Now I know. |

| WA Bar does the same thing with their "Guinness" pitcher...of course they charge an arm and leg as if it really was the genuine article. |

| Consider yourself lucky. My girlfriend tells me that at many bars/hoffs they recycle the leftover beer and whiskey. They gather it up off the tables, pour it in a bottle and back in the fridge/shelf it goes. |

| The funniest thing is that the Budweiser here is really just OB with a Budweiser sticker on it. Not even the bottled beer is safe from molestation! |

This is why I don't drink draft here. I did when I first arrived and I would get really bad hangovers from it. My girlfriend told me she drinks out of bottles only so I followed suit. Now whether I'm just sensitive to dirty beer or not I don't really care. I'm just happy to say I haven't had a mean hangover or a hurl fest in months!
Stay away from Cass draft! YUCK! |

A lot of korean bars and restaurants recycle the ice, kim chee and a few other items....it's common practice and I have SEEN it and complained to the owner(s), wait staff, etc...I just get the stink eye.
I do not like/enjoy eating when everyone else is sticking their sticks into the food and then into their mouth....nasty in my opinion. I don't know where your lips were last night and here we are swapping spit....consequently, I do not share the same bowls. If that makes me an anti-social eater...great! You get 10/12 people eating out of the same bowls! Even 3/4/5...nasty! |

They're probably still selling those 7 year old bottles of original OB over in LA - for the "adventurous" folk who want to try an ethnic beer rather than a Heineken or a Sam Adams. Wait till you get a taste of OB Blue. |

A few of my ct's would always mix all the side dishes in one big massive mix before leaving a restaurant. She said it's a good idea to do, so they can't reuse the stuff. I looked at her like she was mad, but then thought back to my teenage days working at a restaurant and realized what people are capable of doing. |

Actually it's not. The only place you can get real soju is in the country-side. Andong and what not. The crap in the green bottles is watered-down ethanol. |

So you think the alcohol in the country made "real" soju is not ethanol?
All spirits are distilled and the distillation process produces -- wait for it -- ETHANOL to give it its alcohol content! |
