(the official thread is becoming a bit of a monster...)
I just went to my local gu office to register my 125cc scooter/bike. You have to get insurance before you can get plates. The guy phoned up a couple of brokers and both said it was 430,000!
I'm 25 and would use it to commute 4K a day.
I am willing to pay maybe even 200,000, but 430,000 is just too much. Statistically, it probably isn't worth it!
Any suggestions for cheap companies? How much is your insurance; where'd you get it? |

Apparently there was a huge increase in insurance fees starting Jan 2010. So there's that to consider. |

Someone told me to expect about 150,000. So an increase to 430,000 is 3 times!
Anyone managed to get cheap 2010 insurance? |

i was told for those under 30 there was a big increase in rates but for those over 30 it dropped. I have a 125 cc bike and last year it was 270,000 and this year with the same company it dropped to 140,000 |

I suppose you're over 30? What company is that with? |

I too am very interested in finding a reasonable insurance company for my cb400. I have read through the motorcycle thread, but I'd like to know if there is anything new out there. I want to start riding again! |

Yeah, I am really curious about this too. I just bought a Daelim 125cc bike. My friend who got his last year said that insurance should cost around 200,000 or less for a 125cc but the cheapest that was found for me was almost 400,000 Won. What is going on with this. I am starting to hear vague rumors that they changed everything in 2010 but is that true. If it is what are other people finding is the cheapest price? I am 26 by the way. |

If you're under 26 you're considered a higher risk. Samsung charged me 400,000 last year, I've since turned 26 and am due for renewal. It'll be interesting. |

It's been asked before but has anyone found insurance that will cover theft/vandalism? I'd love to get something nicer than my GT250R but am not willing to risk it being stolen. A Ducati is too risky without insurance... Military can get American insurance but I don't think regular citizens can do that. |

I've been looking for years to find insurance that will A) cover theft/vandalism and B) cover your own bike in case of an accident (this is something that the insurance we get here doesnt' do.) AIG used to do it years ago, but has since stopped. Anybody know of a way to get full bike coverage here? |

the price isn't fixed either, agents will try to drive up the price so you should haggle. I had a crappy agent that tried to pull off 500,000. When I told her that was too much and I wouldn't pay that she gave me some excuse about rate hikes (which was true) but as soon as I told her I was going to shop around the priced dropped right down to 350,000. I told her to take a hike. |

I'm with LIG 매직카, over 30, and my insurance is about 140kwon per year for a 12 year old 125cc. I call the same insurance agent each time I need to renew, rather than the insurance company. She tells me I'm supposed to call them, but then she always just chalks it up to the foreigner not knowing any better and sells me insurance dirt cheap and gives me gifts. |
