The Korea Times is awful, but why would an editor even put this in the paper?

http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/special/2010/01/178_59935.html:

Jessica Simpson Farts During Business Meeting

A source tells Us Weekly that Jessica Simpson, 29, had a, ahem, windy moment during a business meeting for her denim line in late January. "While one of the executives was speaking in a room full of five people, Jessica let out a very loud fart," says the insider.

"Her mother [Tina Simpson] was there, and it prompted her to turn around and yell, 'Jessica!' The tension was extreme. No one knew what to say."

It wasn't Simpson's first brush with public flatulence: She famously cut loose on an episode of Newlyweds in 2008.

Especially in the past year, the Korean rags that service the English-speaking community have become attention whores.

what's actually interesting was that it was reported in both languages. Sometimes the stupid stories about foreigners only make it into english. But this one was english and korean.

Someone clearly thought it was news worthy.

I'm still waiting for another story about Rwanda and aliens or zombies or whatever it was.

Evidently the Koreat Times is no more mature than the elementary school kids here who think "dong chim" is funny.

I'd say the Korea Times knows it's target audience well. Laughing
