any recommendations? Looking for something like 320gb
I`m not to up to date with HD`s for Mac so looking for a bit of advice.
I have read Western Digital are best for Macs and perhaps Seagate.. I`ve seen the likes of Samsung/Toshiba/LG etc but have no idea about the quality and compatibility issues with Macbooks.

Seagate, and LaClie.
Whatever you do, DO NOT get Western Digital. They do not eject properly and cause the computer to wake from sleep.
If you have a later MacBook with Firewire, get a firewire drive. |

Get the LAcie drive. It's got a eSATAII port on the back. This is the fastest connection you'll get with an external drive at current!
Youll also need an eSATA 32expressport card for your MAcbook, assuming it has a 32 express port option on it. is it a pro model or just white macbook? |

It`s a Macbook late 2008 edition....(aluminum not white). Pretty much looks exactly the same as the Pro.

Thanks for the advice about LaCie. Will have a look into it.......though I don`t recall seeing any LaCie in Seoul.....where do they have them? Yongsan? |

I want to comment on the WD drives:
I have both a 1TB non-portable external and a 500GB portable external. The 500GB one is new. I've had absolutely NO problems ejecting it. You are correct that it will wake your computer out of sleep mode, but my 1TB won't do that. The 1TB drive automatically goes into sleep mode itself. I always eject the 500GB passport drive once I am done with it. It is the second one I've used with my macbook. The first one just died on me
If you want non-portable, I've always gone with buying my own external case and then whatever HD I want for inside that case. I am using a 2006 white macbook with the 400 firewire port and I used to have 4 externals chained and good to go for my torrenting needs. These days they are almost all full and I have no time to watch what is on them, so I just use my 500GB portable drive and it seems to be doing the trick.
LAcie drives are pretty good, but I can't ever find them with good pricing options, thus I've opted for what I have now. |

^^
It's only the portable WD drives that have sleep problems. I don't appreciate having to eject and remount the drive every time i put the computer to sleep. |
