Hello - my wife and I are returning to Korea in April.....
Maybe you can help me with my query. My wife is from New Zealand but has not lived there since 2002 (Was in Korea 2002-2006 and in the UK from 2006 until now). I am arranging our police checks now- will a police check from just the UK be fine or does she need one from New Zealand too ?
Thanks |

Hey there ed1980. I can't answer the question "Does my wife have to get a NZ cbc", but if the answer is yes then the following thread will help.

In fact the last time I had to get a criminal background check it was very easy. I downloaded an application form (see the thread above) sent it to my mum in New Zealand and got her to do all the domestic mailing. Once it was returned to her she forwarded it to me in Korea. She's done this for me twice now.

I think, if possible, it would be better to do everything in just the one nationality. E.g. British passport, British Disclosure, etc because that is what the staff in the Korean embassy in London are use to.
You can substitute British for Australian and London for Sydney or whatever.
Also I think you must get your visa to the Korean embassy in your home country. If she still has a NZ address and it's possible to get a check from there then I'd go that route. |

If you can show a proof of residency I don't know what it would be in the UK but in the US it'd be a Green Card you can use a different countries CBC and consulate.
For example a Canadian who has a green card in the States can get their CBC done and the Visa interview completed in the USA without any problems. |
