Looking for methods that people here may have used Green Energy. If you have, please tell me what you did, when it was, where you used it and how much it cost and ultimately saved you. Was it worth the investment? |

There is a solar panel on the roof of my villa. I have no idea about its costs or benefits, but I know that it needed a govt subsidy to exist.
So called "Green" energies simply don't exist without govt subsidies. At this point they are always more expensive to install and generally don't prove cost effective (without other peoples money being thrown at them). |

Yes that's kind of how a lot of stuff get developed actually, through low interest loans and grants. Manhattan Project, the space program, etc just to name a few. |

How did the space program work out? We went to the moon 40 years ago and haven't been back.
Manhattan Project? Heavens! The ability to snuff out thousands of lives in an instant? What a wonderful way to spend money.
Subsidies distort incentives. Perhaps if bureaucrats and politicians didn't try to pick winners, people would spend their own money to devise new ways of generating energy. |

The Apollo program was the basis modern day satellite communication, and geosynchronous orbit will be the next frontier of 21st century warfare. Not something the market could ever have come up with on its own. |

Is that even a good thing?
It's impossible to know what the market might or might not have come up with. It might have come up with something better, maybe not. We can never know. What is known is that it is a major fallacy (fatal conceit) to believe that the government knows better how to spend money than millions of actors acting independently, and of their own free will. |

Is this for a report or for documentation of some sort?
Is this specific to actual use of energy or the saving of energy? This gets lumped together a lot. Is this specific to buildings or automobiles and transport?
I'm not an expert (but I sleep with one) |

I have a friend I'm in a discussion with. I'm basically trying to see if the ends justifies the means when purchasing it. I would think if you had unlimited money it might not be a problem. For now I'm just trying to loosely compile any first hand information about it. |

I see. Again, I'm no expert, but sustainable building intitiatives and processes language is frequently spoken in our house. Think more along the lines of conservation with a benifit to the community, businesses and the earth. This is the reason my wife and I are here. |

LPG car here... just got it recently, though. Not sure how much savings I'm enjoying. Per liter it's got crappy mileage, but the price is a lot less than regular gas. It ends up that I'm saving some, anyway. Better for the environment, I hear. |
