I was planning a trip to Thailand this January, but I was a little spooked by the "high-season" airfares I was getting quoted by Korean Air and Asiana, not to mention Thai airways. Expedia was no help, and I was getting frustrated.
A friend recommended I check out Jin Air (www.jinair.com), Korean Air's discount arm, which just started their first international flight-- Seoul/Incheon to Bangkok. It was about $200 cheaper than the cheapest direct flight I could find (through Thai Airways). I was a little wary about booking for such a relatively cheap airfare, and I couldn't find anything about Jin Air on this forum.
Anyway, I just thought I'd let any future travelers looking to fly to Bangkok from Seoul/Incheon that I was impressed with the service I got from Jin Air. They didn't seem "fly by night," and they even served free basic meals during the flight, along with drinks.
That is all. |

good to know! I was also curious about these guys. I hope they extend their service to Gimhae. That would be awesome. |

I see but one flight on their site; Jeju and Gimpo.
Edit: Yes, one international one. Seoul to Bangkok. |

Jin Air is Korean air's low cost carrier. Their pilots are trained the same as the Korean Air pilots, but they've cut costs by not offering as grand of food, only going to certain destinations, etc. They are running specials since they are just starting out in some countries, but they should always be cheaper than Asiana and Korean Air. |

Not hard to be cheaper than Korean Air.

only thing that sucks is that their departure and arrival times are not as convenient to some. Not complaining though, I'll be flying with them in a few weeks |

They have a ticket on Jin Air from Incheon to Bangkok listed for $173 RT but there seem to be NO dates available for this fare. For every date I try, it says "sold out". Has anyone gotten a fare this low, or does it not exist? |

The travel agencies all take the cheap seats for their ripoff packages. The demand in Korea for travel in Southeast Asia seems to be insatiable.
Cebu Pacific Airlines also has cheap flights to Manila and Cebu, like around 180,000 to 220,000 won, but getting one of the tickets seems to incur lottery odds. |

I got 3 one-ways to Manila for 295,000, tax inc. Regular price would have been 520,000 or so.
