I am going to be teaching in Geumcheon-Gu, Seoul. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geumcheon-gu. It is not the Gumcheon near Pusan its one of the 25 districts of Seoul South of the Han River. Anyone live here that can tell me how it is like.

haha I KNEEEEEEW someone was going to post that. This is another Geumcheon. I guess there is Geumcheon-gu in SEOUL and the other one in the youtube video, that one is located near PAJU.

----I have asked many people and nobody seems to know. I hope I don't get stuck in a ghost town.

It's in southwestern Seoul. I've never been there, don't know if there's a reason to - like most gus, i'm sure it's mostly residential. I've actually never met anyone living or working there.

By the way, its wikipedia entry, yikes. Can't believe non-native speakers try to write English language entries.

"But this office still using some small buildings has not enough car park that visitors driving a car parks in the car park of HomePlus next to this office."

I walked through that area once. Nothing special, but definitely not a ghost town. The area I saw was not very high end, but seemed to have all the amenities. It's not going to be a bad trip on line 1 into the more interesting areas of Seoul. It's also close to the Anyang Stream which if you get a cheap bike can provide some long nice rides in both directions.

It's close to the #1 subway line. Use that to go to Seoul.

It's in Seoul, south west. I live there. VERY residential so don't picture Gangnam or anything but still "city residential." Not very prosperous, either. If you have other questions, just PM me.

i see that itaewon is like an hour a way. If the subway/bus systems close at 12 that means I can never go to a bar or anything huh? Unless I pay for a 1 hour cab ride back home and that will cost tons....YIKES!!

I used to live in Gwangmyeong City just across the Anyang River from Geumcheon-gu. VERY different places but I did spend time in Geumcheon, biking and running along the river and shopping.

It is post-industrial with many IT factories and "outlet" shopping. The stores near Gasan Digital Complex are a rival to Dongdaemun. The taxi ride home from Hongdae is quick and not much more than 10,000 because it is along a major road.

It is rather poor, but not too bad. Traditional area but some big-box grocery stores around. Mountain climbing nearby. Not a bad spot, except subway line 1 is the worst. I hate that line.
