I think it depends on what floor you live on. I used to live on the fourteenth floor and we never turned the ondol on. The heat from the lower floors kept us toasty to the point of opening windows. |

Very strange...we had a very cold January, and my heating bill including gas for cooking, hot showers and heating was ~56,200won
you must have very inefficient heating or your housing must let all the air escape...
noone should be paying that much |

OMG!!! How big is your apartment? The size of Olympic Park??? I have had my ondol on since October and each month it's about 80K for a smallish one bedroom/one living room/one kitchen kind of set up!
Have you actually seen the bill or are they just asking for the money??? |

I keep my relatively large flooring toasty warm whenever I'm home, even all night long, on the fifth floor of a five-storey apartment villa.
And I pay about 140,000 won twice a winter to fill up the tank.
I have no complaints. |

I havent seen the bill but my friends have.. They were asked to chip in as well, but they didnt live here in winter, so they didnt use it.
They used it the same amount of time, but they turned it on and off and theirs was 150k for the same time period.
Another person in our apartments. Used hers intermittedly and hers was 100k for one month. So its seems about right. |

If I may ask:
What kind of FUEL does everyone use for heat, this makes a big difference.
I used kerosene for a while and my bill was 300 000 won / month in the winter, now I use LPG (propane) and it is less that 50 000 won.
Your furnace's age and effeciency will also effect your bills as well.
I find it hard to belive that anyone would run the heating solid since the beginning of winter.
It is hard to compare but FUEL makes a big difference. |
