I'm wondering if I can ask EPIK to put me in a specific school to work for...
Does anybody know? |

Are you the same tigerbeer who spent many years in Korea and moved to Japan a couple years ago, and who has posted hundreds or thousands of messages on Dave's? If not, I almost feel like you should be sued for using the name "tigerbeer"! |

Same thought!
But assuming the poster is an upstart who didnt realize he was treading on a well-traveled name, I'll tackle the question.
Basically, no. If you're just tossing your lot in with epik, they'll slot you in where its convenient for them. Your wishes will be considered to an extent but you would need a really compelling reason for stating a specific school & that school of course would want to have you.
No harm in asking though. |

ummmm... I'm not the same person as you were referring to as the "TIGERBEER". I'm new to this site and had no idea that there was the same user name previously existed. I guess the user names are case sensitive. I'm sorry if I confused you. I feel bad that people may think I'm a impersonator or something.... Please know that no harm was intended.

If you know somebody at the school, it's entirely possible. I took over a friend's position at the middle school where I work now. When he told his co-teachers that he was not renewing, they asked him if he knew anyone who would be a good replacement. He mentioned that I would be interested in the position and I then had a meeting with his co-teachers. Following the meeting, the co-teachers and admin put in a request to EPIK that I fill the position. I am just finishing up my first year at the school. |

One girl in our EPIK intake had a science major and had specifically asked to work at a science high school. She knew there was only 1 in our city and she ended up there. I stressed to my Epik contact that ideally I wanted a girl's high school and got it, but of course there are a number of girl's high schools in my city (I didn't know any of them at the time I applied). |

Thanks for the info. I do know the co-teacher and she told me to specify this to EPIK. I just needed to ask this, so it's not possible. Thanks again!! |

I wasn't serious. My message was tongue-and-cheek. Just be aware that someone else with that name used to post a lot here. |
