The dollar has lost 98% of its value since the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913. You call that stable? |

Inversely, gold has increased in value 50 times. I'd stay away from the fiats. |

For me, it's JFK. The bullet saved his reputation. He would probably been impeached for his affairs, especially those with Communist spys and mafia chick plants had he not been killed. Second place I'd give to FDR for similar actions and for his blind loyalty to Stalin to the point of backstabbing Churchill.
Controversial? Yea. |
Obama.. spent more than any other president without positive results.. talk about a time sink on America.. let's hope this fool isn't re-elected. Dems/Repubs put someone with EXPERIENCE in next time. |

A huge portion of "Obama's" spending was mandated under the Bush administration. A further portion of it comes in the form of automatic budget increases set to occur under certain conditions without any legislative action (he discussed this briefly during the Republican Q&A session). In short, regardless of what you think of Obama, a lot of this spending isn't his doing. Hate Obama if you want -- I certainly have my own problems with him. But hate him for what he's done, not what Bush did. Obama's not blameless in terms of fiscal irresponsibility, but he's done far more to combat it than Bush ever did, both with recent fiscal responsibility legislation, and via his proposed spending freeze, which isn't ideal but is at least something.
Regarding experience, Reagan and Bush 2 were both experienced in terms of Executive Branch politics and were two of the worst Presidents in our nation's entire history. If anything, we need people who are less steeped in our nation's disgusting politics, not more steeped in it. |

All fiat currencies are being constantly devalued. Some have a faster pace (Zimbabwe, Turkey, Brazil etc). Some slower (CHF). But all are on the same path. The USD will eventually be worth nothing.

^ An excellent overview.
Anyways, worst president. Bush! Two unfunded wars. Unfunded entitlements. Torture. Wars. Banksters running wild. Domestic spying. Kidnapping. And he annoyed the hell out of me. |

George HW Bush is widely seen as having finished out a third term for Reagan.
Likewise, Obama is serving out the third term for G. W. Bush. |

The PATRIOT Act. Stifling the 9/11 investigation.
And let's not forget, improper syntax.

So people don't work for a dollar a day anymore. What has that got to do with prosperity. I've got an open miond, but I won't take anything resembling, "because it's evil" as an argument. Looking pre and post 1913, i'd say material gains see-sawed before and have increased much more than linerally after. What's so great about gold? It has value, sure, so do other things. Why not have a saffron standard? |

Gold can always be converted to any fiat currency, but not always vice versa. |

One of the important attributes a good has to have to have to be considered money is a "store of value." This means it will be worth the same tomorrow or next year or in 20 years, as it is now. Unbacked dollars aren't a very good medium of exchange because they don't hold their value over time. Because the govt can print more money its value is eroded and causes the holder of the dollar to become poorer.
Gold is an excellent form of currency because it satisfies all the criteria of a stable medium of exchange. It holds its value over time. It is easy to transport. People will accept it as payment (if they are allowed to). And it can be used as a unit of exchange, ie it is measurable. |
