|
|
Hello all! I am gathering documents for my Visa so that I can obtain employment overseas; however, I've ran into a problem. I had my CRC done through criminalrecordcheck.com because a recruiter suggested it and said it was acceptable. I am having problems, though, getting the actual document notarized (which I need before I can send it off for an apostille seal.)
Why do some recruiters require local CRCs and some require statewide CRCs? I have a local CRC notarized and apostilled, but no one will notarize the state level CRC done through that website. Any suggestions? I paid, like, $33 for the check, and I don't want it to be a waste.
Any helpful suggestions will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Also, I applied for my passport today, and I got the regular service because expedited was about $100 extra and they said it MIGHT be in only a week or so sooner. Should I change it to expedited or does it just depend on when I am leaving? I am looking at mid- to late- December. |

My passport took about 3 or 4 weeks with regular service, but I've heard that it can take as long as 6 weeks, so it's your call. As far as your background check, unfortunately your recruiter gave you incorrect information. The only background checks allowed are state (not from the internet) or FBI checks. Call your state police department and tell them you need a notarized background check and they will let you know if you need fingerprinting or if the name check will work for your state. |

Do you or anyone you know of have actual written proof of this? I came back to Korea for a 2nd contract in June of '09 and had only a local check (notarized & apostilled from Texas) and it was sufficient. Now, I'm hearing rumors of people that had go get a statewide check but it appears to be very hit or miss. Any thoughts? |

i had to do a statewide check. i haven't had anyone specifically ask me for a local check so why not just avoid any potential headaches? |

I believe the rule/law/whatever changed in November of 2009. Must be state-wide or done through the FBI. It sucks, but thems the rules now. |

but if your afraid of what might up on the state background check for a state you live in (because korea is funny about ANYTHING on your record), you could suddenly "be from a new state" if you know what I mean |
