I have been reading the posts on this blog for about two weeks now and I have noticed a trend. Why is it that MOST of the posters here are SO negitive? I mean you are here by choice, nobody made you come here and nobody is making you stay here. If you are that unhappy with the ROK, why not pack up and call it a day? I am not a teacher, but I am heading that way in a few months and I hope that the negativity is not this bad if I happen to meet some of you in person. Jeez people, just chill out some and stop taking life so seriously. Alright, let the insults and hate start.... |

people are jsut negative by nature. we have so much more technological advancements and reasons to live a relatively decent and happy life now but mankind has never been more unsatisfied. it's all this built up post-modern "what the hell is the point" angst. there are many ways to combat this general malaise and i will list them
1. religion
2. love of family, friends, opposite sex, same sex if you're gay
3. booze, drugs, tiring amounts of meaningless sex and empty vapid relationships with multiple partners of the same mind
i pesonally hve chosen path 3. i'm having a decent time. but if i didn't have that i'd probably be spewing with negativity on any public forum not just this. bottom line, either find God, true love, or get wasted. peace. |

I find that people tend to be negative on here (myself included) to vent about the day to day frustrations that occur when you live here. With that said though, usually meeting people out and about, they are not overly negative. I think in our own home countries, people don't really have the avenue to complain because none of them know anything different. |

How long have you been in Korea?
I have a feeling you'll be eating your words after a while. |

I am not in Korea yet, but I have been there before and did not mind it. I just let them be them and I was who I was. I think it will work out the same this time around (hopefully)...... |

Venting is a normal method of dealing with something that is bothering you. People vent about jobs that they don't REALLY hate, vent about people that they will continue to hang out with, vent about the prices of goods that they will continue to buy, and so on. |
