I'm not sure about the kiddie channels, but IPTV from SK Broadband has BBC Entertainment AND BBC Knowledge and BBC Lifestyle.

Here are the int'l channels SK Broadband offers.

[540]CNBC
[541]CCTV9
[542]NHK World Premium
[543]Russia Today
[544]Bloomberg
[545]DWTV Asia+
[546]BBC Lifestyle
[547]GranadaTV
[548]Fashion TV
[549]ABC
[550]BBC Knowledge
[551]Channel News Asia

By the way, Qook, which is what I have, has the news channels (CNN, BBC World, Fox News and Bloomberg) but recently got rid of two channels -- Voom TV and Channel V. I'm hoping it'll do one up on SK and get a bunch of interesting channels.

For the first time in MONTHS, I turned on the TV. I changed the channel to 334.. nothing. Thought I got it wrong, tried 343. Nada. Tried 344. Nada again. Then I tried one channel at a time.. it totally skipped the mid-300 channels.

I was like... WTH???

For those of you who have Skylife, you might have this - 334 is ... or should I say, was, BBC Entertainment. I don't watch a lot of TV. My three staples, if I ever watch it, are BBC Entertainment, BBC World and CNN. I thought they made some kind of a mistake.

I just phoned them. The contract with BBC Entertainment has expired and it's difficult to renew, so they don't have it anymore.

I am REALLY MAD. Like seriously... I am THIS mad: Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

So - considering I pay 20K a month for TV to get three channels, plus the kiddie ones my daughter watches, which are only the Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney, should I just trash the whole Skylife thing and find an alternative???

Just having CNN (so you can see whats happening in the world) and the channels for your kid is worth it. I'm sure you have history channel, discovery channel, arirang, and movie channels. Having NOTHING will suck for you and your kid. Unless you have a huge dvd collection then I would cancel and watch your computer.

I just read on the Skylife homepage that the Sundance channel is available. I sure as hell wish I had it since it plays indie flicks.

Update on Qook's IPTV service. It will add Feb. 16 CNBC and TV5, basically France's version of Arirang TV but in French. Rolling Eyes

They haven't called me back... tossers!!!

I will call them again tomorrow.

I saw on their website that they are doing a joint thing with Qook... so chances are I won't be able to get BBC Entertainment anyway.

Argh!

The only time I wanted to watch TV I couldn't because my channel is gone Sad

can't really help but if you want an invite to thebox.bz (best torrent site for british TV), pm me with your email address

The site has 2,754.93 PB of tv ranging from old stuff to the latest shows, it isn't hard to keep a good ratio either

An invite? Really? I signed up by just going to the site.
If you want a site for downloading American and British shows without worrying about ratios, go to EZTV
http://eztv.it/

OP, I feel your pain. I have Skylife and now that 334 is gone I check to see what's on CGV, Extreme, Super Action, OCN, MGM, Discovery, Sky Sports plus a few other channels.

I read the bulletin on Skylife. It says the following channels:
ETN연예TV(285), MGM(320), BBC Entertainment (334), CCTV (532), 실버TV(534), and 일자리방송 (537) from Jan. 5 can be received only with the HD receiver (even though the channels themselves are not HD).

If you want BBC Entertainment back, get the HD receiver.

You said that before. But what is an HD receiver? Does it cost more? Can you link me to their bulletin?

You need to call them and ask how to get one. They might charge you a bit for the new one but anyway, just call them about this.

I should clarify. You need to replace your SET-TOP box for one that receives HD, even if your TV isn't HD. I'm thinking since you are already a Skylife subscriber, they'll either give you one free or at a discount in return for another set term of service.

They go through periods of open and closed invites. Eztv is good (when it is up) and I use it first, but for older and rarer stuff thebox can't be beat

I just got Qook Skylife and it works fine. I get BBC Entertainment because I ordered the premium package, and getting BBC World Service on the audio system is also great.

The Sundance Channel has been so-so at best and really disappointing at worst, but hopefully, Skylife gets BBC Knowledge and other channels.

I got that too, we got the premium package for the giant sum of 12,000 (it would cost about 100,000 for it back home) we have bbc entertainment, bbc world and any other channel (including discovery) that you can get here and the best part is that star sports is 100% in English...it's hard to beat watching live premiership football in English without worrying a stream will go down!!

I checked Hello D's Web site and the only significant thing it has that Skylife doesn't is BBC Knowledge, which still to me is a biggie. At any rate, Skylife has more HD channels and a few others Hello D doesn't, as well as more audio channels, including BBC World Service.

So I'm pretty happy with what I have, though IPTV will considerably change the face of pay-satellite-cable TV in Korea (and the world).
