I have some relatives who want to send me some birthday money from the US and Canada. (Very cute that they still do this, though surprising, since I'll be 30!). One of my relatives couldn't figure out the best way last time so just sent $40 US cash, and it made it here fine. But this is clearly not secure should anyone choose to take it...is it easy enough to get international money orders (in US dollars) exchanged at banks here? Or would the fees make it silly? If so, is there a better way? |

We were given money orders, and we took it to our bank. They said that it would take up to 2 weeks for us to get the money from the US, plus they take 10,000won from the money you get. So $40 isn't going to go far. Your best bet is.... well, I don't know. We're just saving the money orders until we get home, and when my mom gives me money for my birthday, she is going to deposit it into my Canadian bank account so I can pay off my credit card. |
