Anyone know of any good Immunotherapy doctor's in/around Seoul. I am currently getting shots in the US and would like to send my medication to Korea to continue my protocol. Anyone else have this done or know where to find a safe practitioner who speaks English?

Yes, allergen immunotherapy. I am having trouble finding a place that speaks English.

Our asthma and allergy center serves between 60 and 100 patients a day. My boss speaks English and trained at the National Jewish Medical Center and Mayo Clinic (ranked #1 and #2 for respiratory medicine in the U.S.). Immunotherapy is expensive so make sure you have insurance. I'm assuming you are currently on a maintenance regimen. What exactly are you allergic to?

I am allergic to a plethora of things. No food allergies that I know of, but animal dander and plant pollens. I have vials of the extract I need to be taking, and my allergy clinic is going to ship it to the clinic I end up at. Where is your allergy center? How much is it for two shots? And they are requesting I find a location with these capabilities and equipment:

1. Stethoscope and sphygmomanometer
2. Tourniquets, syringes, IV's (including 14-gauge)
3. Epinephrine HCK 1:1000 for subcutaneous administration (may be administered intramuscularly with hypotension or significant airway compromise)
4. Equipment for administering oxygen
5. Ability to maintain airway
6. Ability to administer IV fluids (normal saline)
7. Injectable diphenhydramine (25-50 mg/dose for adults; 12.5-25 mg/dose for children)
8. Corticosteroid for intravenous injection
9. Vasopressor

I'm currently receiving allergen immunotherapy at Severance Hospital. It was a bit of a process and certainly not cheap, even with insurance.

To start, I had to get a referral from a smaller, second-tier clinic (in my case the International Clinic in Itaewon) to see an allergy specialist at Severance. Then, it took 3 appointments there before I was all set up to get shots.

Easy? Cheap? No. Possible? Definitely.

You must be mistaking Korea for a Third World country. The list you gave contains things found in any tertiary hospital in Seoul. And you won't need your vials shipped to you, as any allergy clinic will have what you need.

Another thing to consider before choosing a clinic is where you will be living in Seoul. Our clinic is in the northeastern part of the city (Nowon). Severance Hospital is in central Seoul. There are several other medical centers that would have what you need (e.g., Seoul National University Hospital, Asan Medical Center).

I would like to ship my vials over because my insurance covers it fully while I am still in the US. Thus, I can get a years supply for only $50.

I will be living in Bundang so this will be a commute I have to make once a month. Closer to South Seoul the better.

Your best bet would be Asan Medical Center near Songnae Station (green line, #2). It is generally regarded as the top medical center in the country, and is located on the south side of the Han.

I really appreciate it! I have e-mailed all of the facilities and hopefully I will have a response before I leave with some time to order the vials (February 25th). It's very kind of you to help out.

Kind regards!

I'm living at Yatap station now. Does anyone know a close hospital or clinic I can get my allergy immunotherapy shots at?
