I have to disagree because I spend most of my time on the web looking at pictures of puppies and flowers. |

I bet many of the 98.8% of respondents who aren't addicts are depressed too.
I mean, A LOT of people are depressed.
I spend most of my time on the internet looking at pictures of cats and cakes. I am not joking. |

I cry a lot. Only when I'm cutting onions, though. |

Out of 1319 respondants, 18 were considered to be internet addicts, and conclusions were based on that group. A group of 18 people seems awfully small to try to draw solid statistical conclusions off of, and that doesn't even get into the subjective nature of what constitutes internet addiction. This doesn't seem like very strong science to me. |

Yeah this is nonsense. Internet could mean ur watching tv, films, listening to music, reading, porn etc.
Even if they are trying to have a pop at social networking I still think it's nonsense. |

i think 'sitting at home alone a lot' probably has a high correlation with depression whether you're using the internet a lot or not. hell, i usually wall up at home when i'm depressed and the entertainment of choice is the computer now. in the past for most it would've been tv or books. |

Oddly enough I recently read the article as part of my job, which is now done. It says people who spend a hell of a lot of time online may be sad. Shocking news I must say. No social life and sad? Wow.
Anyway, how many is a lot? And can you tell me what depressed means. I have no idea, having been joyous all my days.
