I heard that despite the name, there are at least two or three Jews living there.

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Wonju is a very nice town, I'd rather live there than the place I'm currently living. There's one foreigner bar most of the teachers that live there go to. Forget the name of the place, haven't been there in years. Go on Facebook and start a basic account, don't post your real contact info like you did here. There are lots of Korea groups there, including some travel groups. Hope this helps.

May I suggest that you take your contact info off here as well! Shocked

I lived there years ago (2001-02). Rock n'Roll was the bigger western bar that had a fair # of expats. PostDocs was a smaller one downtown. I avoided them after the first few months i was there. I wouldn't be surprised if either (or both) is no longer open.

Anyway, this isn't of help to you, just provided me inspiration to briefly reminisce.

postdocs is still open but mostly soldiers go there.

in tungaytekji there is a bar called U2 that is still popular for foreigners I think
