And it's been ages since I've been to a concert (last one was Foo Fighters + Hot Hot Heat in LBC, CA years ago...).

Check out Volcano Choir, it's a side project of his.

Tune-Yards has gone into heavy rotation round here. She's great.

Also, this is maybe a little niche-y, but if you like folk/acoustic, High, Wide and Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project by Loudon Wainwright III is outstanding.

I was at that concert too. I moved back to Long Beach a year ago.

Those are all good bands. Why weren't there any good shows like this the three years I lived in Seoul?

I've written this a dozen times in various music forums, so why not once more: check out "Rooks" by Shearwater. This is a great cd; its literary, dramatic, and involving, all in 40 minutes. Plus, they are releasing a new cd this month.

100 Miles From Memphis (2010) is a departure from her regular stuff for Sheryl Crow as she has gone back to her soul music roots and the result is a staggering, good nostalgia ride, sounding like long lost music from the sixties!. Here are two songs from her new album:

I am not a fan of The Suburbs (2010) album by Arcade Fire but their Neon Bible live in an elevator is awesome:

Arcade Fire The Suburbs is 10/10, album of the year material.

Major Lazer Lazers Never Die EP is killer old school Jamaican dub/dance hall, if that is your bag. Great for a hot, sunny summer BBQ.[/i]

Future of the Left is really turning my crank lately:

They used to be Mclusky (and some other band) who were totally awesome:
