Easy and simple question, probably been covered a dozen times. How long do you have between the time the visa issuance number is given and the time you actually get the visa? A couple months? |

For me it was really quick. I'm in Brisbane, Australia so I had to send it via post to Sydney.
However it only took 3 working days including postage times. This means that it took only a day for the processing. In an email I was told 3-5 working days (i don't know whether they were calculating postage time or that was just in-house processing time).
This may not be too helpful, but I'm trying to add a bit of an Australian insight, as I'm finding a lot of the visa/authentication/document process is from an American or Canadian perspective |

Sorry, I was really sick when I wrote my OP. Let me clarify, how long do you have to go and get your visa from the time you receive your visa issuance number. In other words, how long before the visa issuance number expires?
Thanks to the people who already responded to my vague question though |

I think it-s something like 30 days. And then you get the visa and have 90 days before you have to activate it by entering the country. And then another 30 days to get your ARC. |

I just found on a webpage that the visa issuance number is valid for 90 days, but I would like to know for sure if this is true. Anyone know? Is it 30 days? 90 days? or some other number? I am asking because I won't be able to go to a consulate until after 30 days have passed (32 days to be exact).

Is there any way you or a family member could call and ask the consulate? If you tell them ahead of time, and the limit is 30 days, they might bend the rules. |
