|
|
I've seen videotapes of right-wing radio shock-jocks being waterboarded, and even THEY said that it was torture and that they had wanted it to stop immediately after it started.
Quote: |
A soldier waterboarded his four-year-old daughter because she was unable to recite her alphabet.
|
Quote: |
As his daughter 'squirmed' to get away, Tabor said he submerged her face three or four times until the water was lapping around her forehead and jawline.
Tabor, 27, who had won custody of his daughter only four weeks earlier, admitted choosing the punishment because the girl was terrified of water.

That mother would have to be pretty severely UNFIT for her not to get custody now.

Very upsetting story. Now where is that regular who thinks that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few vis-a-vis the orphans in Haiti?
So, we should allow a little water-boarding as long as we end up with a 'mainly-literate" populace? |

It makes me wonder if Mom lost custody because she was doing something even worse.
(((shudder))) An awful situation. |

I don't remember seeing anything in Korea about, "No waterboarding." Can't we use it to help our students learn English?

Talk about reaching! Obsess much?
For the record, I have always opposed waterboarding including the 183 times it was done to Khalid Sheik Mohammed whose lawyer, Lynne Stewart, remains in prison for having zealously represented her client. |

While scaring the shit out of young children with apparent aquaphobia by dunking their heads in water repeatedly is clearly child abuse, I'm not seeing how that amounts to waterboarding. Did the definition get expanded while I wasn't looking? |

C'mon. A little pedophilia is OK--kids get over it pretty easily--but waterboarding is not? Why? More than one inquiring mind wants to know. |

Is this somewhat the result of waterboarding being downgraded and not being classified as torture by Conservative pundits? If everyone had come out and renounced waterboarding as pure torture (like they should have) it may not have been accepted by this man as acceptable. |

Compare a sexual attraction to children with torture by near drowning?
Fascinating how the mind works, isn't it?
Readers with a brain will realize I never made any such comparison, but feel free to continue to strawman me. |

Let's see:
1. Public nudity on a bike is A-OK because lots of people are involved.
2. Gov't agents looking through a machine to check for hidden bombs not allowed because they might see the pimples on a hairy butt. Not A-OK.
3. Smuggling kids out of a 3rd World country without documentation is acceptable because most kids get over sexual abuse pretty easily--A-OK.
4. Waterboarding a 4 year old for not being able to recite her ABC's, not OK.
Somebody more famous than me said consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds. I guess I have a small mind when looking for some kind of consistency in your posts. What can I say?
PS: Please stay away from my neices and nephews until this is straightened out. |

I'll let bacasper define his personal stance on sex crime hysteria on his own, but those first two points are pretty easily explainable. The first is a matter of having the freedom to choose to be nude if one so desires while the second is a matter of institutionalized coercion. |
