I love guinness but it's too expensive in itaewon. Tony's Aussie bar just got Guinness on tap, and he's selling a pint for 6000won. And he knows how to pour it!!

This is not a solicitation. Nor am I connected with tony's. I'm just sick of paying 8500won for a bad pour at the bars in itaewon.

That's the tiny corner place up the hill past the post office? Good little place. I like his burgers too. We need more small cafes like that around Korea. Itaewon is the only place I've seen foreign businesses so far. I can go to most any other countries and find a diverse range of interesting options available in the smallest towns; not just the capital city. You have Seoul and then you the real Korea off the beaten path where it's only the limited selection of Korea's domestic products with a few tiny exceptions at Family Mart and a handful of Emarts in the larger cities. Hoeggarden is as international as it gets besides a few limited number cans of Guinness. The Budweiser is NOT American; it's an impostor. I snagged 4 bottles of Hoeggarden and 3 cans of Guinness today. I asked for more, but the lady said that's all that's available until sometime next week. They were stocked with Kronenbourg 1664 and I bought it all back in March which all togethor was about 30 cans, but they stopped selling. Same for a restaurant that had live rainbow trout to go where I was a regular there for a month getting 2 or 3 fish a week. Now that store front fish tank has been empty since mid April, but the front door was open today. No one, but me was buying as it was too pricey. I know it's not a supply issue with the fish as there are 3 trout farms within a half hour of this place unless they're having a fish issue like with so many other natural resource things. 10,000 won for a 350 gram trout or catfish was the pricey going rate including the head so you only got like 200 grams of meat.

Family Mart lady advised me to drink Hangook makejoo since it's in plentiful supply if I want to get drunk tonight. I'm just not crazy about most food and drink Korea domestically produces as it's cwap quality. I even turned down a mahkolee offer today, because it's not good enough to put in my body. Why stop selling good things I and other foreigners were snatching up faster than they could stock? There must be onerous logistical hurdles for retailers in Korea where they score a load of something and when it's exhausted, that's it so they get a load of something else to sell until it's exhausted.

I'm betting when the keg or kegs of that Guinness are exhausted, that's it for a while. Go enjoy it now while it's there. It must be hard work for them to acquire imports to offer in Itaewon as even in Itaewon, the selection and quantities are very limited as compared to what is commonly seen in other countries. I was hoping for some ground beef burger to season the grill up with.

The beer is good but don't order the food there. It's way overpriced for what you get.

I thought the guy was rude and he kept making jokes as if I was a dumb North Ameriacn even though I explained I was in Aus for 12 years he just kept making me the butt of his jokes as if I was oblivious stupid North American. No worries I wasnt angry but I still think jokes at a customers expense is pushing the barrier of respect. Watching the footy was cool though.

cross between a live bar/night club/cafe/darkhole and wannabie kitchen!

like the other guy said.. the food is WAY over priced and not only that, its really not good. even for pub food..

the bar is good for a laugh... thats about it.. Ill spend the extra 2500 won for the beer and drink in a bigger brighter place where you can actually talk to people and mingle!
yeah tony is a character and I might go back...

ohh and to the other guy who is said tony makes him the butt of his jokes..
dude.. dont be afraid to fire it back to him..

I was there once, the owner had the idea he was beyond teaching as he was some manner of drummer. The Aussie food they sell is prepared next door at
the Korea-American American restaurant and its garnished just right to make it look Aussie.

2nd worse place in Korea. First would be 'friends' the GI bar.

Why would he need to teach? Tony is arguably the best drummer in Seoul. I performed with him Friday night, and there aren't too many drummers I know of that could pull off a Carter Beauford (Dave Matthew's drummer) drum solo on a crappy kit!
