I'm Canadian. I have a CRC in Korea that is without an apostille stamp from the Korean consulate here as my recruiter just discovered. The stamp wasn't needed for my C4 visa. Is it possible to get a friend of mine to go and have it stamped by the Canadian consulate in Seoul? Or is that only if I'm in Korea myself?
Does anybody have any experience in this area? |

Go to the Canadian embassy/consulate and get a letter from them which is supposed to affirm the authenticity of the CRC. Canada doesn't do the apostille thingy.
I did this last year in Pusan. It took a couple of days to process and there was a fee.
I can't remember all the details.
One thing I do rememeber.... don't let them send it back to you!
What a nightmare I had last year. They claimed they sent it and two weeks later, it was still sitting on their desk.
Tell them you will pick it up in person. |

If you are in Canada and the CRC is in Korea then your ONLY option is to go and get another one, get it certified by the Korean consulate in Canada and send it to Korea.
IF you are in Korea AND your CRC is here then YOU must go to the Canadian embassy and swear an affidavit attesting to its authenticity.

Thanks, that's what I thought.
some waygug-in, I'm worried that's might be where I'm headed. If anybody involved actually cared, I would have it back by now. Instead, I was told it would be mailed either yesterday or today. |

ttompatz,
What if instead of getting a new CRC, they just go to Korea and then do option 2 as you listed? Is there something obvious I am forgetting? |

That (along with the associated visa run) IS an option IF the person had previously held an E2 AND had no prior problems with immigration.
A new CRC can be had over the counter in a few days (same day in many cases) and costs a LOT less than a visa run to Japan. |
