Eating a Crave Case by myself. Pig.

Elected class President in 6th Grade.

Going to prom with the girl I had a crush on since 10th grade.

Earning the top grade on 4 Humanities exams in the same week on 4 different subjects- Art History, History, Literature, and Music. Humanities class at Huron had 100 of the best and brightest of our very bright school.

Getting drunk the night before the SATs and doing better than 75% of my friends. Who needs math?

Winning the Day 2 scenario on Sid Meier's Gettysburg! on the 'Lee' difficulty setting as the Confederates. 20,000 vs. 26,000 with you as the attacker and the computer getting a +30% bonus. Took 100 tries.

A speech I gave in Speech class at Clown Community College- Impromptu speech about optimism and inspirational moments. The first 25 people go up and give these tear-jerking stories about dying pets and blind people. Weak. I go up and give a speech about how the Detroit Lions are inspirational and optimistic. Had the class dying in laughter the whole way through, Speech teacher gave me a look that said "You don't need this class", and this Korean girl in the class was so impressed that she got me a job plag..er...reformatting and editing for a TOEIC company in Korea via e-mail.

Some inappropriate ones.

A friend of mine were cruising on a 'ride', when he insisted that we just pull over to 'chill'. I thought that was the dumbest idea ever, that screams police. Just to be safe I come up with a story about being lost and trying to find a road that was nearby. I even had my cell phone out and to my ear. "Dude that's totally unnecessary, you're just paranoid." Sure enough copper rolls up a minute after sparking. I had made sure to vent just beforehand. Buddy is freaking out. I give my story, cop points me in the right direction. Of course he's Asian and its country roads- he's lost and confused. Actually it was two minutes from my parents farm where I grew up. From then on I had complete control over 'chillin' decisions.

I was illegally dumping garbage at an apartment complex when an old man came up and accused me and my friends of illegally dumping garbage. My friend was one of those "just tell em to beat it, what are they going to do types". Not necessary. "Of course we're dumping over here, we live in the apartment block to the west. It's all filled because some construction company dumped a bunch of stuff over there. We had to throw everything in my car. It's out of control". Old man bought it hook, line, and sinker.

Drag racing down Washtenaw Avenue near U-M campus I must've been doing 70 in a 35. Cop passes me in the opposite direction and starts to do a 180. I dip into a neighborhood called 'The Spaghetti Bowl' before the cop can even finish his 180. (so called because the streets are tangled and circular like spaghetti) Spaghetti bowl exits on the oppsite side of town. Bye Bye copper.

I come from a small, dying Midwestern town. And when you come from that kind of place most people do two things. They complain about it. Get married to some girl. And work at the carplant. The other is they accept it, get married to some girl, and work at the car plant.

My greatest accomplishment thus far is avoiding that trap alltogether. When I visit home I often run into people I went to high school with. They are married and have been for years. They have a couple of kids. The guys have potbellies and the moms have mom bodies, mom jeans. Not that I think there is anything wrong with that...And maybe that will be me. But alot of those folks became that at 23.

When I tell them what I do and where I've been their reaction is usually the same. They're kinda amazed, like my vagabond lifestyle free of responsibility and commitment had never occured to them. And maybe I'm wrong but I always kinda detect a bit of envy.

I lost 100 pounds shortly after High School. I didn't go to my own graduation or prom, instead I was doing my military basic training. I thought I was going to be a career soldier however somewhere during basic I decided that I wasn't suited for it at all and I left the military on good terms (voluntary release).

I lost 40 pounds in that summer, so I didn't let up when I got back to civilian life. By the end of the next year I had gone from 220 pounds to 120 pounds, which is too low but I simply couldn't stop the dieting/exercising thing I was doing. I've gained some wait since then and am at 160 pounds now, I plan on getting back down to 150 this year however 160 is nowheres near fat so I'm not in a major hurry. I just got attached to the feeling of being a slice of lean muscle with no baggage whatsoever Smile

My next greatest achievement is graduating from High School. I graduated with a 56% average in all my courses. In the first grade of High School they thought I was functionally illiterate and some teachers thought I was mentally challenged. They made me have a "psycho-educational assessment" to justify putting me in the "resource" or lowest-tier special educational curriculum with mentally challenged kids. The assessment ended up showing that I was probably one of the smartest kids in the school (by their standards) and the reason I wasn't succeeding was because I was bullied so much and my family had to keep moving around because of it. I used that same assessment in my university application so they'd overlook my grades. They did.

My High School still did put me in the resource program, I had to pull myself up by the bootstraps and got myself placed in all academic courses by my last year. I took everything I'd need to go to university. I got my degree with no problems. The issue was never my ability, it was always external factors like the other kids and the shitty small town. Now when I go back home, nobody recognizes me and I'm glad.

Why not? That's the way the Nobel committee does it these days.

Speaking of future achievements, The Dalai Lama told me that when I die, on my deathbed, I will achieve total consciousness. So I got that going for me, which is nice.
