The Exorcist failed in its most basic duty - to scare me out of my wits - and instead provided pure cheese.
The view that The Exorcist is scary at all is hopeless in my eyes, but the view that it's the scariest movie of all time is simply ludicrous. If it didn't get such a huge billing - that is, if it wasn't such an anti-climax for me - I wouldn't make such a fuss, but such hype over such cheesy garbage means, for me, it is the worst and most contemptible movie EVER!

"I am Legend" is a travesty of a film. The theme behind the title doesn't actually even appear in the film. The novel it is based on is actually kind of affecting, and I am not a big sci-fi/horror guy. There are so many great elements in the novel that would have killed in the film, but they decided to go with $2 CGI instead. I mean seriously? How crappy was the CGI in that movie?
The book is very good (more of a novella really, it's only about 100 pages), the story behind the title is very good. I highly recommend it. |

Drafts, pressure differences, bad fixtures.
I just had a flickering fixture go out all together in my room. |

Any horror movie that does not scare you is therefore the worst movie of all time. I don't think you understand the meaning of the word 'worst'.
What you meant to say was 'I didn't enjoy The Exorcist'. Then you would just lack taste instead of basic logic. |

Since worst is subjective, it means what ever I want it to mean.
The Exorcist is given the reasons cited the worst movie of all time, in my judgement.
Accusing somebody of lacking taste just for having a strong and different opinion to oneself about a movie is hardly what one would expect to see in a mature adult. A boy of 13, on the other hand....

Poor chap. If you dont even understand subjective concepts and react by insulting people with different views to yours and then have the cheek to suggest others lack basic logic then somebody clearly needs to go and have a lie down until they feel a little better. |

Does anyone think Paranormal Activity was a rip-off of the Blair Witch Project? I was going to see it based on the good reviews but then someone told me that.

Well, when you said 'the view that the Exorcist is scary at all is hopeless IMO' weren't you accusing not just one person but the general population at large of lacking taste?
Anyway if you didn't like the Exorcist, I think I'll ask someone else about Paranormal Activity. |

Fixed.

Very similar, but an original effort nevertheless. Obviously, BWP is set in the woods and PA is set in a home. PA is a little more sophisticated, but, in the final analysis, both movies are entirely 'found footage' of people being terrorized and ultimately killed by a demonic entity.

A strong opinion either way on the BWP will inform whether or not you will rate PA. Myself, I thought the BWP was a masterpiece. |

What! It has a very specific meaning. The reason you lack logic is because the reasons you gave for it being 'the worst movie of all time' apply to (at least) thousands of movies. Therefore it cannot be 'the worst'.
You possibly don't lack taste, you just lack the vocabulary to talk about movies. When I asked you to say why it was the worst movie of all time, i'd expect a detailed criticism of the pacing, editing, plot, dialogue etc. Your reasoning was instead..'not scary'..'cheesy'..therefore 'OMG worst movie ever'.
I like talking about movies but most people don't talk about movies, they just list movies they like and don't like and then wait as the other person does the same. Don't be one of those people. |

Your enjoyment of the Blair With Project will depend quite a bit on whether you like shaky cam or not. I know people who actually gget sick watching shaky cam but I don't notice it even.
It has imo one the great end scenes of all time. I didn't really believe that the girl would continue filming the whole time but I did believe she was terrified and that is all that matters. Her fear is infectious. You could tell it didn't have much of a budget and that seemed even more apparent the second time but it was scary the first time. Not Ringu scary but not bad. I'd recommend it and I'm going to check out PA this weekend on the back of that. |

What part of 'subjective' don't you understand, JMO? This isn't brain surgery. It's your native language. 'Worst' does not express something that 'can' or 'cannot' be the case. It expresses something that is subjective. I have given my reasons for why The Ecorcist is, in my judgement, the worst movie of all time. A major reason, if you'll recall, is that it is hyped to a level I consider unreasonable and it was a major let-down, to me, as a result. You are contributing to the hype. Your utter disbelief that any man could be alien enough to dislike the Exorcist is exactly the problem I have with the movie. I like horror and I was expecting to be blown away. And what did I see? A little girl (there's your first fault: little girls, even when possessed by Satan, are not, ever, scary), using a gruff devil-voice (cliche), crawling and floating around, shouting crude phrases - all of which while wearing the most laughable 1973 make-up. The Ecorcist is an absolutely worthless piece of garbage. Honestly, I cannot ever recall another movie I hated as much. |

The meaning of the word 'worst' is not subjectivve. What you are literally saying is that if you made a list of all the movies ever made, 'the exorcist' would be at the very bottom of that list.
What you mean, possibly is that is overrated and you didn't like it. Which is fine. I'm not a massive fan of the movie but I did love the 'in/out' camerawork. |

| I've seen several other 'found footage' movies recently, with Cloverfield being the best. It isn't scary, but nevertheless may be the best movie of the genre. |
