So I'm in class and the students notice me chewing a pen.
The world ends and for the next twenty minutes they go on a tirade about how dirty pens are.

I then have to try my hardest not to mention communal soap and hand towels, the fact that there are more germs on most parts of your body than a pen, the fact that they don't shave their pubes when pubic hair is a cesspool of collected smells and germs.

Oh Koreans...

Yeah, it is hard not to laugh at the children and adults here. They will overlook all of their dirty habits and focus in on something that the westerner does that they consider "dirty." This coming from people who share their food and the many germs that are clinging to those chopsticks. This coming from people who don't hold their hand over their face when they sneeze. Rich.

I understand where the OP is coming from.

but.

why would anyone really concern themselves over what Koreans think is "dirty"?

are they concerned that to the average Westerner, most of their young men look or act gay?

It is a little dirty to chew on your pens. But I bite my nails which is probably 100 times worse, so who am I to talk. But who cares? As long as we are young and healthy it's not like we are going to die of a couple of germs.

A dirty boy huh? Maybe you need a dirty girl!

Janet Weiss :
And that's just one small fraction
Of the main attraction
You need a friendly hand
And I need action
Touch-a touch-a touch-a touch me
I wanna be dirty
Thrill me, chill me, fulfill me

?That's like, normal.

What IS gross is that the handwashing habits here are abysmal/nonexistant.

Regardless, yeah, chewing on pens is just gross. It's a step away from thumb-sucking or when kids suck on the shoulder strap of the seatbelt.

As you're doing next time, get a mirror and watch yourself and then hold up your pen. Or better yet get a stranger to do it in front of you and then offer you their chewed up pen. [/quote]

Pens are not dirty.

On the other hand, pubes collect sperm, which cannot be washed off, along with all the other odds and ends and smells and whatnot.

Shave someday, you'll notice.

The point I was making was that a pen really isn't any dirtier than a fork or a spoon, yet that was the focus for them for such a long time.

You should probably reread what I said.
