Does anyone have information on this? I'm told it will start on March 1st, but I've heard that some people are arriving on the weekend (last year there were activities starting on Sunday?). Any information at all about this would be appreciated! |

It starts on the 1st.
people are asked to be at Inchein Airport by the 17th and there is shuttle service at the airport to take you to the orientation between 1 and 7.
All information is going through recruiters, SMOE will not even address your query.
There is a facebook group running with about 40 members, type in "SMOE fall 2010" and you will find the page. |

For what it's worth - February 26th for me. I was offered something last minute after my interview with SMOE. I have no idea how I got it but everything seems legit.....maybe some recruiters are better connected or respected.
Just curious if anyone has to go to DC embassy soon?

How about somebody standup when the top "official" speaks and ask him why only Native English Speakers have to take HIV/AIDS tests? Let them know that asking only Native English Speakers to take that test EVERY year is discriminatory at the least and SMOE should also pay for those tests. I think it's about 80 thousand dollars + that is collected each and every semester by the Samsung Medical Center. Stand up, have everyone stand up in support of whoever is strong enough to do it. If you can pull this off, the March 2010 orientation group will be infamous. You can do it, good luck. I'll look forward to hearing about it in the future. |

eljuero, if you end up deciding to go to DC, make sure you call ahead -- so much of DC has been shut down due to the recent East Coast snow activity. I'm guessing you might already know that. Still, would hate for you to get out there and find the office closed. |

Yes, I'm gearing up for a snowy trip to DC. Definitely going to call ahead on that one though I can't imagine it won't be more or less cleared by Monday. |

the 17th is wrong, You need to arrive at the airport on the 26th, if flying in that day. If you are in Korea already and want to skip the airport, you can meet at Seoul High School on the 27th by 10am |

yes I hit the 1 instead of the 2, sorry
And you are asked to be at the airport on EITHER the 26th or the 27th |

Just to clarify, did the 2010 SMOE Orientation start March 1st?? I ask as I will likely be in SMOE 2011 and am currently under contract until February 25th. It'd be most ideal if the orientation started after that so I wouldn't have to deal with trying to use a sick day or vacation day or something on my last few days at my current job. Does anyone know/think when the 2011 SMOE orientation will be? Thanks. |
