Honestly surprised it lasted as long as it did. After all, I doubt the pay the proper mafia kickbacks.

For some odd reason they're putting the squeeze on street vendors. They're making them buy these special carts for 3mil each that are all made to look the same, and they're moving them to the back alleys.
Oh, and the city will be more than happy to front you 1mil of cash, but how much do you think these people make selling pressed rice and catsup for 500 won a cup? It's putting a lot of people out of business.
This is just the beginning. It's really too bad too. |

| That really, really sucks. I hope they find an area for for the Flips to set up shop. It's even harder for them to find the foodstuffs they need to prepare proper meals than it is for us. |

Bummer! I liked eating their canteen food when the winter air didn't freeze it immediately. One less unique place to take a date on Sundays.
Also, all street stalls are gone from Jongno? I still see the occasional nasty sausage on a stick. |

I know, right? I could have sworn I've seen food stall all up and down the streets there.
A lot of areas in Seoul are widening the streets to accommodate the middle bus lanes, which means less sidewalk space. Maybe that has something to do with it? |

Boo Korea. What makes this country cool is that someone can make a few extra bucks selling stuff on the side of the road and not need a permit and bi-annual inspections.

Sounds like they provided an alternative. It might not have been one you liked, but they provided one and you turned it down. |
It was not an appropriate setting, for reasons given, reasons which are perfectly justified and seemingly obvious to a public official engaged in such negotiations. |

What makes this country not cool is that only Koreans are allowed to do it outside of Itaewon. |

I wish to go back to the days when there were so few cars and many, many buses and taxis which were dirty f-ing cheap.
What gets me is that Koreans want to live like the Joneses, by having a car or even two cars per family.
This country is simply not big enough for that.
Besides, how often and for how long do some districts in Seoul have areas where cars are double, even triple parked?
The mass transit was what made this place amazing- they should just stick with that. |
