Indie rock band Mate.
The drummer (이현재) doesn't look very Korean to me, but apparently he is. It says on the soompi page that he heard there was once an American in his father's family, so that's where he gets his non-Korean looks from. In some shots I can see it, but in others, not so much. I guess he looks so different from his two band mates, so he stands out.
Anyway, has anyone seen them live? I heard they are supposed to be good. Listened to a few song and watched some MVs, and I think they are appropriately "indie rock."

I'm sure he's Korean, probably born and raised. He just just with a extra bit of something else thrown in.
I gotta say, he has nice hair. |

My guess if there was an American in his family it's 2 or 3 generations removed. Probably some grandmother or great grandmother, and the guy left or got shipped of somewhere else. |

He's definetely got some Korean in him, I can see it.
He's probably not 50/50 though.
I'm only 25% Chinese and mostly Black so my Asian features are pretty hidden unfortunately, only really visible in photos. |

If you like Korean rock, you should hang in Hongdae, lots of good undergound clubs there.
Also you should check out this new band called CNBlue. They have a pretty decent sound. I love the bassist. |

I listened to 위톨이야 and it's pretty catchy. But, yeah, some of the chorus is stupid (daridaridada du). |

Sorry, but neither or these bands seem remotely indie or rock.
Their genre seems to be more in line with the standard more-concerned-with-hairstyle-than-music uninspired pansy pop you usually hear.

Hey!
It's no fun if you don't log back on to argue with me over completely subjective issues of musical taste.
Remember: if you have nothing nice to say, say it on Dave's. |

Mian me too! I was really mainly concerned if the Mate drummer was a foreigner or not. But I do agree: they are not what we consider indie/rock, but more Korea's special mix of whatever it is they say it is. Or something. |

| I saw them live, but only for one song as part of a Swell Season concert. I liked them. |
