My coteacher has told me the company has sent out an email stating the hours will change from 12-5 to 11-6.

Can anyone confirm this? Luckily my contract is up in April. I will stand and fight the system for the last month but I hope you guys and gals don't have to sit around an extra 4 hours every day.

I hear it is coming. Mine were from 12:30. But as I am leaving in 2 weeks, it applies to the next guy.
Furthermore, the teachers will have to log in and out at work and attend meetings with foreign teachers in area schools either on evenings or weekends. Not sure how often. The logging in and out is in the new contract.
It was a nice ride while it lasted.

I heard that the afterschool programs were being restructured. A friend of mine just signed at one, and he has to come in 2 hours before he starts to teach - it's mandatory. That would make it 11-5 or something.

I know a girl that works at one outside of Seoul and she works from 11-6 as well.

A friend of mine just quit Daekyo a month ago as they said he'd have huge changes in his schedule.

Not surprising AT all since these were the positions where you come in and teach 3-4 classes a day then go home. Think maybe SMOE, or immigration caught on that they were "PT" positions, and are maybe requiring more. Who knows - I could be completely wrong.

I work at an after-school program now, but it's "legit" and my boss is always talking about how the other after school programs are getting investigated, and how illegal they are. Says that running a "legal" after school program is a LOT harder, but at least he doesn't have to worry about getting fined/closed down.
