| I think Matt Hughes was there too (supporting Robbie Lawler.) Hopefully Strikeforce can financially survive - they have some great fighters - led by Fedor and Dan Henderson. |
Their roster is really growing. King Mo, Mousasi, Werdum, Sobral, Aoki etc. and they are the only MMA events on network TV. |
I agree with you guys and all, but I often feel like I'm watching amateurs, UFC washouts, and past-their-prime fighters on Strikeforce. I know it can't be helped considering the deathgrip the UFC has over the MMA world, but yeah.
They are certainly doing a good job of choosing fighters to build-up their "potential greats", however. Bobby Lashley is one of those guys they're trying to build up and it was pretty smart of them to select Wes Sims as the opponent. Most newcomers to the sport would probably think he's some awesome veteran after hearing that he's taken on 3 UFC champs. Little do they know about his true level of skills.
They built up Cung Le by feeding him garbage/over-the-hill fighters and finally gave him a somewhat game opponent when ring rust could be used as a scapegoat in case of a loss.
Also, now that Fedor and Rogers are in the mix, I'm guessing Strikeforce will probably try to get a tighter leash over Overeem and get him to defend his title. Even if he loses, they at least have some big name heavyweights in their roster.
Also, Strikeforce is awesome at creating matches mainstream fans would go crazy over. The Herschel Walker fight, for example. They gave Herschel him a perfect opponent: someone who absolutely blows and with almost no fight experience.
Strikeforce seems to have a very smart strategy for network TV. Most people know nothing about MMA and it's serving Strikeforce well. Hopefully their roster continues to grow and it'll be something even hardcore fans will wet their pants over.
In other news, it's been a while since UFC's last event. I had gotten used to the rapid, bi-monthly event schedule and I'm itching for some blood in the octagon. I'm excited for most of the fights in the upcoming event (Relentless: Couture vs Coleman). Particularly, though, looking forward to Rolles UFC debut, Marquardt v Sonnen, and Meia v Miller. And who doesn't love Trigg, the Kurt Angle look-alike. He has a clothing brand called Triggonomics for goodness sake! |

| Gotta give Strikeforce credit for putting together exciting cards, if not the most talented ones. Strikeforce Evolution was great top to bottom, big knockouts, 5 round wars, surprise come from behind finishes. UFC defiently gas the superior stable of fighters but Strikeforce is settling in as a nice number 2 option for fight fans |

Agreed. With thier agreement with K1 and their willingness to let certain fighters -Fedor- fight putside thier venue, they are great competition to UFC.
They also take away from the monopoly held in the UFC and is another place for talent to get noticed. I just hope we don't see the mess that boxing is in come out of having different champions in different organisations |

| In case someone is going to watch the evening replay of UFC109, I won't discuss the outcome of the main event between Randy Couture and Mark Coleman (which Couture said should be called "Geezers at Caesers" - even though it was at another Vegas venue) but I can't help but note that Coleman's most effective maneuver was cursing Tito Ortiz for yelling something at him after the fight ("F_ck you, Tito Ortiz!") |

I think Ortiz plans on spending the rest of his career putting the older guys out of their misery. Probably not a bad plan since he has nothing for the light heavyweight division and the UFC will keep him around as long as possible because he still is a huge draw.
Marquardt vs. Sonnen was the fight of the night. Too bad no one stands a chance against Anderson Silva. |

Well, Sonnen showed some real good wrestling and a rock for a head. Those are two things that could give Silva problems |

He will really need to improve on defending submissions if he's going to have a shot. |

I didn't think there was that many MMA fans out in Korea. We should all meet up one time and watch a UFC ppv and get a 24 pack or something like that.
-I thought one of the main things I was going to miss is getting together on fight nights with friends and tossing back a couple haha. |

Me too. I was surprised that UFC pay per Views were on TV for free. A small group of us used to meet up at Wolfhounds. Just call them up and make sure there isn't another sporting event on at the same time. They were always happy to put it up on the big screen for us.
Mark Coleman was let go by the UFC. |

| Belfort is injured and can't fight Silva. Sonnen has a bad cut from his last fight and won't be ready to fight in time. Any thoughts on who gets the title shot or should he fight a LHW? |

I think Dana White is considering setting Couture up for a run at the LHW title so I don't think it will be Couture. Couture also said he was already aproached to fight Franklin. Who knows though. Evans? Akiyama would be okay. |
