No. But it might be generational. I was born in '83, possibly too late for this to pass by me?
Edit: Actually, I remember seeing this on a "humor list" of most messed up kids' movies. |

I remember Art Garfunkel singing "Bright Eyes"
I watched the movie on TV.
I thought it was a commentary on USSR. |

Yes, we had to study it in the 6th grade.
And, yes, I agree I do believe it was making some kind of statement about Communism. It was somewhat similar to Orwell's Animal Farm. |

| Studied it in Grade 5, but then I'm old so maybe the curriculum was more like the old country back then. There was an animated version that was run on CBC sometimes as well. |

| Checked the film out of the library when I was 7 or 8. I remember that watching it was pretty traumatizing, but I kept at it hoping things would get more cheerful. Never read the book. |
