Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places...but can anyone recommend a low cost airline to Japan (preferably eastern or northern Japan)?
Everything I look at is about $500 for tickets to Tokyo and Osaka isnt much different. |

| I know, its a little ridiculous for somewhere so close. I mean you pay a lot less for a return fare to taipei! |

I used Travelocity to book a round-trip ticket from Incheon to Haneda (Tokyo) a few weeks ago for $280. I probably booked the tickets a week before I flew out. Try Travelocity. Only problem was, I had to transfer in China! Soooooo lame. On the way back to Seoul from Tokyo, I saw the plane passing over Seoul on the route map they show on the TVs sometimes on its way to China |

| Best advice is to try and get a Korean friend to help you out, the Korean travel sites are a lot cheaper than anything in English. |

can you guys recommend a NOT annoying Korean site I can fumble around with?
All of the Korean sites I use (basically Tourcabin and Whypaymore) show you fares for flights that are full and that drives me crazy! |

Call STA Korea. Student and discounted tickets. I've used them since I was a teen and they have never failed me.

Also, tickets are cheaper if you ask a Korean to call for you. (Like others have said) |

| I get Jeju Air tickets to Japan for about 160,000 round trip. Look for the deals on their website. |

^ This (Jeju is a low-cost airline). They currently fly to Osaka, but no Tokyo. I'm unsure offhand if any other cities. I believe I paid ~220,000 roundtrip for very specific dates about a month ago.
Aside from specific-airline sites, I don't know of any Korean ticket sites that don't do the (I agree) kind of annoying practice of showing flights for which the site doesn't have any tickets to sell. |

If you have a Korean friend (or can read Korean) then check out....
www.onlinetour.co.kr
www.whypaymore.co.kr
www.072.com
Flights are cheaper there compared to travel agents in Korea. Sometimes if the cheapest flight is not available there is a waiting list but I`ve found I`ve always got the seats in the end (unless you book the last possible moment)
Using Expedia and other western websites are usually more expensive than Korean travel agents too.
Good call about Jeju Air. They fly to Osaka and Kita Kyushu just by Fukuoka (not the main airport).
I think Jin Air are looking in to opening routes to Japan soon also. |

| If you're anywhere near Busan, you might consider taking the ferry to Fukuoka and transferring from there. The Beetle is about a two hour ride. Flights internally from Japan are less expensive. |
