My question is simple:

Has anyone been in Philippines at Xmas? If so, what services are shit down for the day? In a predominantly Catholic country, I guess alot of things.

I would appreciate any response I get.

There are LOTS of people moving (mostly going home for the holiday) so all the transportation was running (air, land (buses, v-hires, trikes, taxis), sea (ferries and bankas)).

All the resorts and tourist places were open and running full blast (busy time for them).

Many of the smaller stores in town were open but the banks, government offices and most factories were closed.

It may be a Catholic country but the chance to make a few extra pesos far outweighs having the day off. Even my staff at home and on the farm chose to work rather than have the day off.

I was in the Philippines last Xmas (Boracay). My only gripe was that atms were not refilled with cash, & many quickly ran out over the long weekend. Additionally, most atms did not take cirrus / maestro cards. Only visa / mastercard. Apart from that, business as usual. Ttompatz has nailed it.

I will be there from Dec 24-Jan. 2nd so it seems.

I am not too worried. Our original plan was to possibly be in transit on Xmas eve, and if they were delayed, it could suck. Things should be okay.

Bohol rocked last time. I loved it. I will be happy to see Alona again.
