I've been checking cable and satellite TV packages in Malaysia, Bangkok and Sydney, and they have channels that Korea would definitely benefit from. I wouldn't doubt Korea will get these channels soon because if a Muslim country like Malaysia can carry them, so can Korea.

1) The Biography Channel

2) Al Jazeera English

3) ESPN Asia

4) Discovery Travel and Living

5) Discovery Home and Health

6) Discovery Science

7) Crime and Investigation Network

Cool History Channel (the one broadcast in Korea has programs different from History Channel Asia, it seems)

9) Sky News

10) World Movies Channel

Don't quit your day job if this was your attempt at comedy.

When I was in Thailand I was amazed by all the channels I had at my hotel. But, I just assumed it was some sort of satellite package. Can you not get that type of satellite package in Korea?

The reason we have a crappy selection of channels is because of Korean protectionism. Rupert Murdoch and others have tried for years to get into Korea and have not been allowed. And when channels do come they are watered down Koreanized bastardizations.

Depends what channel, but the Star series of channels -- Star World, Star Gold and others -- have been off the air in Korea for a while (I remember Star World was available back in the 1990s if you had a satellite or cable).

Skylife offers channels but yes, they are heavily scrutinized and tinkered with by the idiots at the Culture Ministry. You'd think that a channel that Malaysia, a Muslim country, allows would be allowed in Korea, too.

I didn't think white people actually watched TV anymore. I can't imagine
fitting my schedule to a box. Haven't you heard of torrents? It may be
illegal now, but it will never go away and will only get bigger. One day
fat, overpaid, narrow-minded TV execs will realize this. Haven't you?

old rupert will be dying soon and leaving his 30 year old Asian wife with billions and the throne to his son! once he is gone the sons might actually save the company,,,

but yeah, wont be long before korea send up their own satelites and start to offer more channels, be like the Global package.. every channel in the world for like 50bucks a month...

It seems there is an ESPN in Southeast Asia. I wish Korea had it but I guess we have to settle for MBC ESPN and all of the stupid sports shows it carries.
