What expenses will a normal employer pay for? I know the ones listed in all the ads, but I'm thinking more of 1. transportation to/from school (i.e. subway) and 2. document shipping cost |

Generally anything not specifically stated in the contract will be your own dime. I think this is pretty standard. The subway costs about 90 cents a trip, so you can probably afford it.... |

Don't forget to have them include the personal valet and someone to wipe your bum for you, in the contract.
Are you such a tightwad?
Do you really expect a job to pay your transportation to work? I mean perhaps if your duties were to travel to many different schools, but day to day from your apartment to school is your own affair.
This has to be pretty much the dumbest question that I have read here in a while.
Many schools pay for your visa application, but not all. Just ask them ahead of time in the interview if they pay for all fees regarding the visa and job application. |

My school gives me extra travel allowances in my paycheck every month. Go home and have a wank, because frankly speaking, you obviously need it. |

Considering they are choosing where you live, yes, transportation should be paid for. In Japan, I was always paid for transportation. Sometimes, I would go and teach only 2 classes 30 minutes away from where I lived. However, they paid for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taught those 2 classes (and they were only once a week).
Transportation adds up. If you live within walking distance, then of course you won't be paid. Also don't buy stuff at stores and ask to get reimbursed. They can either give you an allowance of like 50,000 won and then keep track of it. Keep receipts to show where that money went to.
In my case, it costs 74,800/month for one train, and the other is 36,000. The schools pays me 100,000.
So, I am paying about 10,000 a month. Considering the other job details, I figure it's worth it. However, if they were different, I wouldn't be paying for it.

Most schools don't pay for ordinary daily transportation to and from home. However, I have worked for schools that provided a van to pickup and drop off teachers, and paid taxi and bus allowances to/from outside classes. None of these had been in the contract, but were established customs at the particular schools. |

She leaves me pastries.
