I'm also interested in this information. I know you have to go to a place like Yongsan, in the are with all the games to get someone to mod it.
I have no idea how much it costs. Also, I don't know what the options are for modding. Maybe someone can shed some light on it. |

I had a Korean console in the past modded and now with an extra U.S. one I'm looking at getting that modded too. The thing is (and someone can correct me if things have changed) but the "mod" so to speak is simply firmware that allows you to trick the system into believing its playing a legit disk. It does NOT get around the region coding/locking issue (again perhaps his has changed but I believe it still holds true) So while you could play download and burn a copy on a dual layered disk (a bit more expensive but still way cheaper than paying 50 bucks for a game) you still must ensure the version you download is appropriate for your system. So if you're hoping for NHL 10 to work for your Korean xbox, modded or not, it just ain't gonna happen unfortunately. Again if someone has some concrete info. on if this has changed (I had a modded one just over a year ago) that would be great to know. |

i just got my firmware updated yesterday in yongsan and got hold of bayonetta..very nice. i didnt know there were options for firmware i guess they can tell you...if u ask
do u know yongsan well? forget the new ipark mall area..go to old yongsan electronics market...either ask around in the underground gaming section near the car park area or cross the road (opposite side to kb bank i think) u will see some stairs going down next to a blank cd/dvd shop and ask around in the underground area that sells pc games/peripherals and consoles stuff too...if i remember rightly its 40k to mod..20k firmware updates. im no expert but i think the mod actually is a firmware update so the one u get now will run up to all latest games.
they have huge lists in easy to browse catalogues of nearly all games and can sort most versions out for u...10k a game...ive seen guys advertising cheaper on here7 or 8k but in yongsan u get peice of mind...pay cash in hand face to face try the game out on their system so u knwo it works. i use torrents mostly but there have been odd games i went their to get. |

True, if you dont mind lugging around your 360 every time u want to buy a game to see if it works on it.. too much of a hassle if u ask me. i know a guy on this board who sells them for 10k each. i've never had any problems with his games.. i usually buy 7-8 at a time and he pays for postage.. and if i have any problems he always replaces them free of charge and also the postage as well.
thats my peace of mind! and i dont have to lug around my 360 every time i wanna buy a game in yongsan to test it on my console.. all depends who u deal with and what kind of biz relationship u have .. there are ppl out there waiting to rip others off.. so be carefull.. goes both ways.,
btw - spanky1off, dont be fooled.. just because the game works on their 360 doesnt mean its gonna work on yours. their 360 could have a different firmware (dvd drive) than yours, so u really dont know. i have bought games in yongsan before and had som fail on me.. no idea why but they always replaced my games for free.. problem is i had to make the trip in and waste part of my day.. naaa.. not for me.. i'd rather have my contact who i deal with now mail them to me.
to each his own! |
