Hello everyone,

There has been extensive discussion about MBA programs in Korea. However, what I would like to know more about is either Korean Studies or International Relations programs, particularly the ones at Yonsei.

I've done some research and noticed a few things:

1. Yonsei GSIS is not cheap. In fact, the scholarships they offer pale compared to Korea University's. However, if I were to study in Seoul for 2 more years, I would want to study at Yonsei -- for the memories/experience of it all.

2. Most people seem to think that an MBA in Korea is useless, even if you intend on working on Korea afterwards. However, my intention is not necessarily to work in Korea at a chaebol after, but to find a government job in the US (ideally) OR Korea. My ideal choice would be FSO (Foreign Service Officer) but other government positions, or jobs that need a gyopo with a MA in international relations and a BA in Finance from a 4-year US university.

3. I already have US government experience on my resume, an F-4 Visa (gyopo), and will be fluent in Korean by next year (am studying at a uni. program/working at a hagwon now to pay for the classes).

Keeping these things in mind, would a Masters from Yonsei GSIS be worth it?

Input from those who have/are studying at Yonsei GSIS or have relevant knowledge would be much appreciated.

I'm only getting older and 2 years is def. not a short time. However, I love life in Korea and would love to stay here longer, as long as I knew I could pay for the classes that would actually have an impact on my future...know what I mean?

you'll earn a lot more respect from Koreans with a degree from the US anyway.
